I was originally introduced to this recording in its vinyl form. I was employed at a local record store and a fellow employee played some cuts for me. The style and beauty stuck with me and when I saw its availability in CD form, I knew it had to be a part of my collection.It was soon after I heard the record that Herb Ellis was playing at a local jazz club. I took my dad (I was 16 at the time) and the both of us were impressed by his technique and playing. What stood out even more, however was the class of Mr. Ellis. Between sets he went around to every table and made sure everyone was enjoying the show. He wrote down the names and titles of some other LP's that he thought I would like. I've seen many performers since then (I'm now 41) and I've yet to meet a musical artist with a combination of talent and class as Herb Ellis.
