Free Music Notes for MetamorphosisFree Music Review: This CD is great Hit: 5 Stars
This CD is an example of what music should be.1. So Yesterday- This one is not fast or slow, just in the middle. I like the tune the best, cause the lyrics are sort of aggresive! Still, I think this one is fit to be a single. It's a typical teen song. The lyrics are not very well written though. They're sort of playful. And the video is so dumb. Hilary acts all punk when she really is a normal teenage girl. Hilary, act like YOU! 9.5/10 2. Come Clean- This is one of my favorites. The tune rocks, and so do the lyrics. I like the slow start at the beggining, then comes the fast part. It's a really good song! Skip over track 1 to track 2 if you ever buy the cd, or else you will be dissapointed. I also don't see how it's depressing, from what I've heard. It just makes no sense. A great listen! Reminds me of The Garden Of Eden just by listening to the lyrics! Reminds me of Stacie Orrico's "More To Life" 10/10 3. Workin' It Out- This song is fast and fun. This is one of my favorites. It has great lyrics. If you don't like really poppy songs with those parts where the singers talk, then skip over this. But it really makes you think. Inspiring lyrics! It's not very well written, but from what the lyrics say, it's very nice. Would've been better without the talking, which is really cheesey and why this song gets rated 9.5!! 9.5/10 4. Little Voice- Hilary's voice sounds totally weird in this one. It's a weird song, but I like the tune and lyrics, just not the vocals. I think Hilary had laryngitis, or was just trying too hard to sound like Britney Spears in this one. I don't skip over this song when listening though. It's pretty cheesey, if you compare it to some of her better songs. 8/10 5. Where Did I Go Right?- I like this song, it's good. It's slow though. The lyrics are pretty cool, and so is the tune, plus Hilary's voice is totally natural in this song, unlike in Little Voice. It gets sad! But I love it because it's strong. Practically the only ballad, unless you count Love Just Is, which isn't really a ballad. A very emotional song that I did NOT expect to come out of Hilary. 9.5/10 6. Anywhere But Here- My absolute favorite on the CD! It has a catchy tune and fun lyrics. The kind of love song that makes you have good dreams. it's a pretty song, but it's not slow. An upbeat tempo with positive lyrics. Very, very good. Hilary's voice shines especially in this one! 10/10 7. The Math- This one so rocks! I like the beat to it, the words are a little weird, but Hilary sounds normal in this one and I like that. The tune really stands out though. It starts out rock, then it becomes pop. I love the riff. The guitar is so cool! 9.5/10 8. Love Just Is- This is a happy, slow song. I like it a lot and I don't ever skip it when listening to the CD. It makes me feel good. It's slow, though. So if you don't like slow songs, then don't listen. Just don't listen to it 10 times in a row, or it will become very annoying. 9.5/10 9. Sweet Sixteen- I've grown to like this one. It used to be too immature for me. But once you think about it, it's really not a bad song. The tune is what stands out. The words...well...they're mediocre. At least someone who is able to write these lyrics wrote it. I mean, what can you expect out of an 18 year old girl? 9/10 10. Party Up- One of my favorites! I like the beat to this, the words, everything! It's a great song to dance to. Fun. Reminds me of balloons! Don't know why- JUST DOES:) Cool song and it's really growing on me. 10/10 11. Metamorphosis- One of my least favorites. It just doesn't sooth, excite, or move me. I can't get used to it. I don't think it will be a single. Although, then again, it probably will be, since the album is titled "Metamorphosis". I like the lyrics, and if Hilary keeps up her cowriting, then maybe her second album will be better. 7/10 12. Inner Strength- I have totally changed my mind about this fabulous song. At first, I thought "This song is slow, boring, and dumb." I hear this from a lot of people. Then I say, "Hello! Where is my brain? This is what people call an interlude. And wow! It's supposed to be short!" DUH, people. If any good singer/songwriter knows anything, they know what an interlude is, and Inner Strength is a perfect example. Great job, Hilary. 10/10 13. Why Not- At first, when i heard it on the Lizzie McGuire Movie and Radio Disney, this song sounded totally stupid, but then I listened to the words. I love it. It talks about taking chances and I'm glad it's a single. I like it better than So Yesterday. 10/10 After I got to know Hilary a bit, I saw what a great role model she was for kids. She wears clothes, unlike Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera, and she keeps the lyrics clean, unlike all these rappers that parents let their kids listen to. Who do you think is better for your kids to listen to, Hilary Duff or Britney Spears? This review area for Metemorphosis has turned into a protest board. You don't hate Hilary- you are just jealous and if you think it's hidden then maybe you just need to go make fun of someone else. Hilary is a pretty girl with a nice voice. If she didn't have a good voice, she wouldn't have a CD out. Record companie know what they're doing- they know good voices. And obviously, you aren't part of a record company, so you wouldn't know. You sit around all day typing up mean reviews for Hilary Duff because you have nothing better to do. This is a great CD for kids! Buy it for your kids and you will be sure to see a smile on their face. Thanks for reading! ~Zoe~

She may have played a teenaged girl mistaken for a pop star in The Lizzie McGuire Movie, but after releasing a Christmas album in 2002, and crooning two songs on the movie?s soundtrack, Hilary Duff looks like she means business. The only trouble is, she doesn?t sound like it. Although dubbing her first album Metamorphosis, the disc is anything but. Her singing is as coy and kittenish as her on-screen persona and she mugs her way through most of the 13 songs with charm and aplomb, but little natural singing talent. But to her credit, the actress has managed to cover a multitude of vocal sins by hiring a team of crack producers, who double her voice whenever possible, giving many of the tracks the rather anthemic feel of a cheerleading squad. The best songs on the disc are the three masterminded by the Matrix, the same production team that oversaw Avril Lavigne's hit disc and they give the lissome actress?s singing some attitude and grit, like on the infectious and spectacularly bratty "So Yesterday," and the cleverly conceived "Math," complete with heavy metal guitar riffs. But Duff is not inhabiting that saucy jailbait territory staked by Britney Spears. At the ripe old age sixteen, she?s much more Barbies than bustiers. --Jaan Uhelszki
