Free Music Review: Definately not the best.... Hit: 3 Stars
Well, I wasn't too chuffed at this year's live album. I think Hillsong are getting desperate for songs to be honest. I am a big fan, and have been buying their albums since 'Friends in High Places', but they seem to have gone downhill in the last couple of years.
I think they should seriously consider only doing a live recording every 2 years now, not every year as currently done.
Many of the songs were DIFFICULT, definately ones not for church (I remember the days when they said they wanted simple songs that churches with young AND old could pick up relatively quickly). The song 'Saviour King' (as an example) is NOT one of these! A lot, including the worship team, struggled with this for a long time.
About the only song I thoroughly enjoyed was Brooke Fraser's 'Lord of Lords'- even my mother, who's not a Christian, really sat up and asked who she was. Amazing song!
But the others- I swear, they added a few extra guitars just to hide some of the clumsiness of the tunes and lyrics of most of them! It was the music, not the songs themselves, that carried this album. Thank goodness for Joel, I guess.
Overall, a disappointment, sadly....
