This album is their best work to date. I, like most reviewers of this album, own all of their albums and am so glad they went in this direction. It's heavier and very melodic. Sleepwalking Past Hope is a modern day masterpiece. When you toss out all the hype and bulls**t and evaluate HIM on the music alone, they are a solid gothic metal band that writes catchy songs, and Venus Doom is a definite improvement from their last one, Dark Light. I actually hated that album.

PROBABLY THE BEST HIM CD YET!!! "DEAD LOVERS LANE" AND "BLEED WELL" ARE DESTINED TO BECOME CLASSICS. "PASSION'S KILLING FLOOR" WAS FEATURED IN THE MOVIE "TRANSFORMERS". MUCH HARDER AND DARKER THAN HIM'S LAST CD "DARK LIGHT". THEY GUYS ARE VERY HAPPY WITH THE RESULTS. THEY ARE ON TOUR AT THIS TIME PROMOTING VENUS DOOM. This is HIM's best album ever simply because "Sleepwalking Past Hope" and "Cyanide Sun" are on it. The rest are good as well, especially "The Kiss Of Dawn" long version. If Mr. Valo could keep going in the progressive direction, he might end up a respectable artist in the long run. This is HIM's best album they have made and very body in the US will love it. The best songs on the album are VENUS DOOM, LOVE IN COLD BLOOD, SLEEPING PAST HOPE, and CYANIDE SUN. This cd its fantastic there best cd in my opinion its only nine songs but each song is almost 6 minutes long and the best song is Sleepwalking past hope its 10 minutes ands like 6 seconds long its very instrumental and there heaviest cd i recommend it i own the limited edition so yeah pick it up its gonna rock ur sucks off.
