Free Music Notes for Like Blood Like HoneyFree Music Review: Suprisingly Mature & Refreshing Hit: 5 Stars
I bought this cd on a whim based on 'suggestions' to comparable artists that I have purchased in the past. It's too bad Holly Brook doesn't have any follow up albums out, I'd buy them in a heartbeat. Every song is well written; the cd plays well all the way through--I don't often find albums like this.
Holly Brook has some depth to her writing that you wouldn't really expect for a 20 year old--the songs reflect someone who maybe has a little more life experience under their belt. At the same time, the purity of her voice and the soothing melodics seem very fresh and young. I find myself going back to this cd when I've had a not so great day or I'm flustered; it never fails to calm me down.
Free Music Review: AMAZINGLY 5 Stars
I have to say that this is one of the most refreshing and thought provoking CD's I have heard in a long time. The raw emotion that Holly lays out for everyone to see is beautiful. As well as her voice, which you may have heard on Fort Minor's song "Where's You Go".There are so many songs that I love on this CD that explaining them all would take WAY too long.If you like singer/songwriters like Sarah McLachlan,Tori Amos, etc. You should definitely get this CD.I have it on repeat, that is how much I love her music. This is one of the best folk/ pop/ acoustic/alternative artists and CD's to come out in a long time.I see a long career for Holly.5 + stars
Free Music Review: There's just no justice in the world.... Hit: 5 Stars
There's no justice in the world for this bright, shining, talented woman to be relegated to the 5000th most popular record on here. In my mind she has more talent in one pinkie finger than all of the women who she supposedly resembles--Jewel, Tori Amos, Sarah McLachlan, Dido, Kelly Clarkson etc.. Unlike these singers Holly Brook has a beautiful, clear, pure, and unaffected voice that carries her smart but accessible lyrics to glorious heights. I stumbled upon this record while reading someone's Listmania and I am glad I did. Every song is different but perfect in its own way. BUY THIS CD--you won't regret it.
Free Music Review: Who's The Chick? Hit: 5 Stars
You may have heard this singer on a very popular track known as, "Where'd You Go" on Fort Minor's The Rising Tied. Singing the chorus to a very personal and emotional song, Holly Brook has now stole our hearts with her sweet melodies on her recent album Like Blood, Like Honey. This girl has gone from that red haired songtress in the music video for Fort Minor to the solo artist making you look into the deeper meanings in life. From love tales to curiousity and from stepping back to smell the roses to comforting verses making you want to sing too. And maybe you'll just do that when you buy her album today.
Free Music Review: A soulful songstress not to be ignored Hit: 5 Stars
I came across Holly Brook just by browsing through a local music store, and even on the half-functional headphones they had, a strong yet supple voice carried through.
Every song really stands on its own as a gem in its own right, but my absolute favorites are "Giving It Up For You" (what a knock-out song to start an album with), "What I Wouldn't Give" (brings tears to my eyes), "Again & Again" (great tempo, just gets you moving) and "Heavy" (you just feel like belting it along with her).
I truly hope this isn't the last we hear from Holly Brook.
