Free Music Review: Not perfect, but she's got time
Hit: 4 Stars

Like Blood Like Honey review:
Eleven songs of purely organic live studio recordings, LBLH by Holly Brook, the newest artist to join Linkin Park's record label "Machine Shop Records", demonstrates the diversity of musical styles to appeal to the six artists. First showcased through "Where'd You Go" - Fort Minor - Holly's youth and enthusiasm, combined with years of experience from her days recording with The Generations, show a very developed and well planned out album.
Painstakingly honest songs asking and posing very awkward rhetorical questions which she then attempts to answer, harsh statements of self-judgement and beautifully formed metaphors and similes to break down barriers between human experience and human fantasy, the most normal of activities and most complex.
If you are a fan of pianist compositions, the very earthy feel captured in these live songs underline her importance to MSR. Where else would you find an artist so young who can play so many instruments and has worked on so many albums from hip-hop to folk to pop ballad?
This album is definitely worth checking out, either to relax to on journey's home, to reminisce of times of isolation or merely to relate to the struggles she has endured to get to where she is now.
Hope you enjoy the CD, I do. Recommended songs include Wanted, Saturday and Heavy. Curious is the first you should hear, at her MySpace - http://myspace.com/hollybrook

Free Music Review: Where'd she go?
Hit: 4 Stars

Since I never watched Conviction or Related, the only thing I knew about Holly Brook was that she sang the chorus to Fort Minor's "Where'd You Go". I didn't even know she had an album, but I came across Like Blood Like Honey one day and I picked it up.

I have to say that this is a very solid album. My brother remarked that she is a little reminiscent of Dido (as did another reviewer on here), and I agree. There are great songs to be found, like "Giving It Up For You", "Saturdays" and "Heavy". But it's especially nice when Holly is just limited to the piano and she's allowed to let her vocals REALLY soar, like on "All Will Be Forgotten" and my favorite, the Sarah McLachlan-esque "Curious".

While the title track suffers from a dull chorus, the rest of Like Blood Like Honey is quite above-average, making Holly Brook a woman you ought to learn more about.

Free Music Review: A great talent
Hit: 4 Stars

Holly Brook has a great voice, but what caught my ear is her song-writing and the way she views the world around her. I agree with another one of the reviews that said the highlights were on the songs in which it was just Brook at the piano.

This is a good listen all the way though. Take a chance and pick it up...give it a listen. You will not be sorry that you did if you like the whole singer/song-writer genre.

Free Music Review: gentle and refreshing music
Hit: 4 Stars

i discovered holly brook on pandora radio, and i am so glad i did! this cd is soothing and gentle, and the lyrics are beautiful.

there is not as much variation from song-to-song that i had hoped for, but never-the-less, all the songs are worth listening to. this is one of those rare cd's you won't find yourself skipping over tracks!

perfect for relaxing or a date night!

Free Music Review: Out of the clouds comes a star!
Hit: 4 Stars

I've been looking forward to this release for a while now. I've mentioned it several times on my website and finally I had the chance to listen to it. Amazing vocals, great piano work and overall just a fun album to kick back and take in. Some catchy lyrics also helped move the album along. Seriously if your looking for a fun, soft and smoothing album then this is it!
