Free Music Notes for Hootie & The Blowfish

Free Music Review: Everyone has soundtracks to their life, is this one?
Hit: 4 Stars

Take a look back Jack at just how much it seems the blowfish have seemed to be "hidden." After rumors of break-up many fans may have scattered and forgotten about the ALT. Rock classic band. Sorry, but the rumor is untrue and Hootie is back with the first new thing since 98'. Yes a new album. Well, dont expect anything to much to the same to their recent success's such as Cracked Rear view, or Musical Chairs. We see deeper into darius's lyrics, and hear some new styles while soothing to such poetic ballads. Theres only one problem to those who might be new fans. Your getting alot of cuddle ballads. This couldnt be played for the hyper. But not worry your hurry. This album supplies tracks like "Space, Go and tell him, Deeperside, and the rain song," to fill your show to go. I give this album 4 stars. 1 star deducted because of the long wait! This cd will fuel the ol' stereo if your into definete old fashion rock that has been missin for since, well Musical chairs. If you dont count Smothered scattered and covered. Which is a another recomendation. Dont forget the self titled album is truly a gem with in its self. Save this one, you may never find another album like it again.

Free Music Review: Back on track
Hit: 4 Stars

It took them longer than most of us wanted, but Hootie and The Blowfish finally have new music on the market. After many people alienated them in 96, they have went many different ways musically on their albums. This one finds them returning to the sounds on thier debut disc "Cracked Rear View". Although the best song on the album "Space" is also the shortest, there is plenty of juice elsewhere in the package. The only thing I have a problem with is that "Alright" is a 'hidden' track. Why? It is easily one of the best tunes on the disc, why not give it a track of it's own? I must admit, it took a few listens to get the 'groove' back, but I finally dig it. Not only have they reclaimed the sound that 'broke' them to the world, but they are still exploring new stuff, check out "Little Brother", it becomes addicting.....

For the droves of people that ran away after hearing "Fairweather Johnson" in 96, it's okay, we'll let you come back. And you will, just give this new record a listen.

Free Music Review: Best CD since the first one and one of the best in 2003!
Hit: 4 Stars

I bought this cd the first day it was released and when i first heard it i ithought it was dull..but when i listened to it again and heard "innocence" i was in total awe!!i'm a musician that has been playing for awhile now and it takes alot to impress me these days .but i haven't recalled myself being addicted to a song like this in years!!i play it at least 4 or 5 five times a day and i hear music at its finest!!Ihavent listened to Hootie since 97 and forgot about them. But now i cant belive that i did!!This is their finest since cracked rear view and maybe surpasses it by a hair. For all you Hootie fans, you'll probably agree and for all you ex-Hootie fans, but this one you'll know why you liked them before!!songs like Innocence,Deeper side,Space,I'll come runnin',Tears fall down will get stuck in your head and youll be singing along with them!!Hootie is back!!

Free Music Review: 4.5 stars, actually...
Hit: 4 Stars

This CD, after only 4 listens, immediately rockets up to being their 2nd best effort (after the sterling Cracked Rear View). There is not a bad song on the album..the only slight misstep is 'Little Brother'...the chorus is addictive, as is the soulful tune, but slang like 'hoes' and 'flossin' coming from some 30-something year old guys sounds absurd. "Innocence" is nearly in the hallowed heights of "Let Her Cry" as far as balladry goes. "Space" is as catchy as pop-rock gets. The hidden track "Alright" is great. If you love Hootie, you already have this...if you like 'em buy it! If you think it's not cool to like Hootie, just give some of the samples a listen and see if you don't find your heart soaring or your foot tapping to the beat. A nearly great record.

Free Music Review: Theyre back!
Hit: 4 Stars

I have been a H&TB fan ever since cracked rear view. I can admit that there have been some sub-par albums put out. I was very excited the day in 2003 when the self titled CD came out, but I was quite dissapointed when I finally got the chance to listen to it. Musical Chairs had some good hits, but I couldnt listen to it cover-to-cover.

Last week when this CD came out I was hoping for the best and this time I think I got what I wanted. This album is definately more along the lines of Cracked Rear View and Fairweather Johnson.

There are only a few tracks I skip--Free to Everyone and Waltz Into Me. The rest is classic H&TB in my opinion. Hope everyone else enjoys it as much as I do!
