Free Music Notes for Looking for LuckyFree Music Review: It's really good...and better live. Hit: 5 Stars
I saw Hootie and the guys last night at the Waikiki Shell, and they were as good live as you could hope for...I've never seen them before and always wanted to see how the live sound would be different from the records. Well, they played a mix of everything from the past to the new record, and the songs from the new Lucky album that they played - particularly One Love - fit in seamlessly with the best of the past material. These guys are a stream of energy on stage, they did two encore sets and left the place with a super positive vibe. Whatever happened in their albums in the last few years, the material on this one fit in great with the past songs that I love. Go see them if you get the chance.
Free Music Review: best effort since cracked rear view... Hit: 5 Stars
i'll get right down to it. this is a great CD, overall. though every song is great in its own way, there are about 6 very catchy ones: #1, 2, 4, 5, 7, and 8 are exceptional; while you're listening to those, the other songs grow on you very quickly, giving the album a comfotable, embracing, folk-rock swagger. This album truly makes the listener "feel good" while having great depth both lyrically and musically. kick back, relax, grab a drink, and just listen as hootie & co. come with a great album that should get some consideration for one of the better albums of the year. this album is right up there with Cracked Rear View in my book; go and pick up a copy.
Free Music Review: Hootie returns to form Hit: 5 Stars
Hootie is back. As many reviews have stated, the album takes the listener back to their 1st 2 albums in terms of its sound and production. I think this could be the best album since Cracked Rear View. The first 4 songs are just killer. Track 5 is decent but not great. But the remaining tracks are all catchy, well written musically & lyrically, & produced well. Don Gehman returns as the producer. Remember he produced the early albums. This album should have 3 hits on it. I highly recommend it for anyone that listened to Cracked Rear View and got hooked. You will not be disappointed in this album.
Free Music Review: Another great one from a great band Hit: 5 Stars
Hootie continues to deliver great music on "Looking for Lucky." Despite their popularity in the mid-90s, this is a band that has never sold out...they play great music whether people buy it or not. I'm glad Hootie continues to make great music, since there is not much good music out there anymore. Music anymore is all about the negative, while Hootie continiues to make music that will lift your spirits rather than feeling impending doom. You can keep your "nu-metal", "rap rock", and "gangsta rap," give me a good dose of Hootie anyday.
Free Music Review: Great everyday cd to listen to... Hit: 5 Stars
Living in the same city as Hootie and the Blowfish are from, their previous cd's were played to the point where I got sick of their music. I was curious about their new album, hearing that it was a lot different than their old stuff. So I thought I would give it a try... I love the changes in the different songs, sounding from country to soft rock. This is definitely an album I would recommend to my friends. Great listening... I just hope they don't over play their music here with this album, just like they did the others...
