Free Music Notes for Musical ChairsFree Music Review: THIS HAS MY 'HAPPY 5 Stars
When I first heard the song "I'll Be There" on the radio, I thought it was okay. Then, something really cool happened; every time I would be doing my homework (and a LOT of it), doing a project, writing a paper, or doing anything else REALLY stressful and energy-draining, I would suddenly decide to turn on the radio and that song was on RIGHT then. It would totally lift my spirits and give me an extra push to get the job done. That's why I call it my happy song!! This has happened a TON of times over the past few months. I think that this song has been a blessing from God in my life; whenever I really need to be happy, this song comes on and gives me lots of happy energy, and I thank God for that.
Free Music Review: Musical and Mature Hit: 5 Stars
This is definitely the most mature Hootie yet. Is it the best? That's hard to say. Each album says something different and tries something new. "Cracked" was the pop/rock style that was just trying to get and audience. "Fairweather" was softer and a bit more subdued trying to keep its audience and broaden their horizons. Finally, "Musical" tries to gain back their original audience by adding elements of "Cracked" and it tries some new things with more folk-rock and rock ballads. "Musical Chairs" has some of the best of Hootie, even though it may not be what everyone wanted. "Only Lonely" is my favorite song, but all the songs are very good.
Free Music Review: Definite Life after 'Fairweather Johnson' Hit: 5 Stars
After the disappointment with the release of 'Fairweather Johnson'(at a time when 'Cracked Rear View was still enjoying a huge successful run in the charts), Hootie and the Blowfish have come back with an impressive 3rd album. 'Musical Chairs' is absolutely great. I questioned purchsing another CD after my disappointment, but I decided they needed another chance. I was very impressed. The songs are powerful, and they have feeling. The dynamics and chord choices are impressive considering their pop history. This is going to be a big winner for Hootie and the Blowfish. Give this album a chance. The public is definitely ready for the artistry. Trust me, you won't be disappointed. Happy Listening!!
Free Music Review: The Best Album I've Ever Listened To!!!!!! Hit: 5 Stars
Hootie & the Blowfish have certianly outdone themselves with this third album. Every song has a comfortable sound. Even a song that you may not like in the begining will definately grow on you after a listen or two. I wouldn't be surprised to hear any of these songs on the radio, and if a road trip is what you desire, than this album is the one you want by your side. The different songs that range from the "Bluesy" masterpiece, Bluesy Revolution to the Bluegrass sing-a-long, Desert Mountian Showdown, this sounds like a mix tape more than an Lp. Hootie is far from dissapointing loyal fans, and are sure to bring thousands of new hootie fans into their wake. Hootie 4ever!!!!!!
Free Music Review: Hootie & the Blowfish at their best! Hit: 5 Stars
I loved Cracked Rear View, and still listen to it. Fair Weather Johnson was a disappointment, but Musical Chairs is great-- I'll be listening to it for years to come! It's got a little of everything, from Bluesy Revolution that would've fit in with the Beatles' Savile Row rooftop concert in London 30 years ago, to rockabilly, folk, Nashville Alternative, and plain 'ole rock and roll. The lyrics have depth, and Darius does what Darius does best-- sings with that wonderful voice. The band is tight, riffs are slick, and the guys from South Carolina are back better than ever. Something tells me Hooties' roots go deep back into Appalachia. I love this CD.
