Free Music Notes for Musical ChairsFree Music Review: up there with Cracked Rearview Mirror... Hit: 5 Stars
I really enjoyed Hootie's first two CDs, especially Cracked Rearviw Mirror. I moved overseas in the late 90s and sort of lost touch with the music scene in the US. I came across Musical chairs online. It was a very pleasant surprise to come across something 'new' from Hootie & the Blowfish. OK. This was released several years ago, but from my perspective it's a new release! Musical Chairs easily passes my 'skip a track(s) test' with there being no song that compels me to skip forward. If you liked Hootie's first two CDs, you won't be disappointed by Musical chairs. I rank it right up ther with Cracked Rearview Mirror.
Free Music Review: " A nice change of pace from the mumbling Darius Rucker. Hit: 5 Stars
I enjoyed "Cracker Rear View." "Fair Weather Johnson" left me feeling cheated. But "Musical Chairs," has revived my faith in this band. I was prompted to buy it after hearing "Only Lonely" on the radio. With each listening of this album, I can easily pick one aspect of my life to match each song. Hootie and the Blowfish have out done themselves with this new CD. They add in a new flavor into their music. The bluegrassey "Desert Moutain Showdown", is a refreshing change to what I am used to hearing from this band. Only better can come from this band
Free Music Review: One of Hootie's best. Hit: 5 Stars
Hey there if you have not heard Hootie & The Blowfish's 3rd CD is good. Maybe not as great as Cracked Rear View but still better then most anything out there. Even at 4 years old I still find myself listening to Musical Chairs. Not every song on here is worth listening to but out of the 13 songs I would say about 9 of them is just plain good. Buy it if you like Hootie because you will surely like this one. Only lonely and What Do You Want From Me Now are just outstanding songs. Home Again is the kind off song that should have been released as a single. Go get it even if it is 4 years old.
Free Music Review: Hootie's Best Work To Date Hit: 5 Stars
With no hype or fanfair it seems to many that Hootie is a thing of the past, only singing "Let Her Cry" over and over. I purchased Musical Chairs not knowing anything about the album except of my prior knowledge of the band. What I found was a group that has evolved into one of the finest bands of all time. Rather than trying to reclaim glory by producing the same old style, Hootie has taken the challange of producing a new style. It is still down-home folk/rock that fans have grown to love, but this CD has meat on its bone. Truely one of the best CD's of our day.
Free Music Review: ...When you close your eyes...do you see me? Hit: 5 Stars
You don't have to be a devoted Hootie and the Blowfish fan to fall in love with this album. IT sneaks up on you and gradually pulls you in. I once read a review that stated that "Fairweather Johnson" set up a wall around Hootie's range of emotion. Musical Chairs proves that those walls are the bounds of your heart. Give tracks like Home Again, Only Lonely, and I Will Wait a spin. Even the simplest of our emotions are brought to a standstill, yet, we experience an epiphany of what it all means, when we just lay down, and close our eyes....
