Free Music Notes for Scattered Smothered & CoveredFree Music Review: Wow. Hit: 5 Stars
Okay well of all of the H&B albums, this one is definately my favorite along with 'Cracked Rear View'. After 'Fair Weather Johnson', I didn't know what to expect with the next album...hopefully not another let down. 'Scattered, Smothered and Covered' absolutely blew me away when I listened to it the first time. I found myself not wanting to listen to songs all the way through because I wanted to move on to the next track!! It's truly an awesome album, and any H&B fan should own this already...if not they WILL buy it. If you're not a fan, maybe it's time you should start seeing what this band is all about...you won't be wasting your time or money. I can guarantee that.
Free Music Review: BOO YOW! Hit: 5 Stars
The newest release from Hootie and the Blowfish is different but very good. The songs are from a wide variety of styles such as the country "Gravity of the Situation", straight rock "Hey Hey What Can I Do" and the jazzy "Use Me". Darius' vocals are awesome, and even though you can't understand a word he is saying on "Rennasance Eyes" it is one of his best vocal songs. Mark, Dean, and Soni are great as well, proving Hootie is the best bar band ever. I wish "Freedom's Child" was on this, but I don't know what other song to take off. It is very fun to listen to with music from a variety of styles, that never gets old.
Free Music Review: Spectacular Hit: 5 Stars
This is Hootie's B-side album and it's pretty darn good! Old hits like "I Go Blind" and "Hey Hey What Can I Do" have found their way onto this album as well as the ever popular "I Hope That I Don't Fall In Love With You" from Hootie's MTV Unplugged. This is a must-have for any Hootie fan as well as for anyone that appreciates deep, soulful songs with spectacular Rucker vocals. One of the most popular songs on the album is "Use Me" with Edwin McCain. There is not one song on this album that you will want to skip. All are catchy, and on an album, what else can you ask for? Buy this, I promise you won't regret it.
Free Music Review: one to own---timeless songs Hit: 5 Stars
I felt a little too serious by using the word "timeless" in my title for this review. Simple fact is, that word describes these songs. On this disc Hootie covers some of their favorite songs; some of them are instantly recognizable while others are very obscure. This is a great disc for a road trip. The whole package flows and the songs showcase the talent and vibe of Hootie and the Blowfish. The commercial success may (or may not) have taken a backseat to the "parental advisory" segment of the music-world, but Hootie is still doing what they do best: making music for people to enjoy.
Free Music Review: Great great stuff Hit: 5 Stars
This is a tremendous album by the band, and probably best captures the flavor of seeing them at a small bar up close and personal. The first song is so catchy that it routinely has me humming the chorus, even if I haven't listened to the album in several days. Any old fans, buy it now. Any fans of good music in general, buy it and enjoy. They may not be as famous or glamorous as they once were, but the band has grown by leaps and bounds and their music shows it. One of the top ten albums I have bought in the last few years, as it is solid through and throughout.
