Free Music Notes for Buena Vista Social Club Presents Ibrahim FerrerFree Music Review: Great Cuban Music Hit: 5 Stars
This is a great example of Cuban music. There are 3 cuts on the album that have great 'feeling' and make you 'dream' of dancing with a lovely latin girl. If you happen to be dancing with a lovely latin girl, then you are all the luckier. Cuts 2, 6 and 9 are very rhythmic, and are great for 'close' dancing. Cut 9, is known in the English speaking world as "Green Eyes". I don't know the Spanish lyrics for cuts 2 and 6, but I hope they are very seductive.
Free Music Review: Beyond a 5 star rating Hit: 5 Stars
I listen to this CD constantly and never tire of it. It has me dancing in my kitchen! The emotion and passion in the music can be felt deep inside. I bought the CD first and then saw the movie and I have an even greater appreciation for the music after learning about the lives behind the songs. I have just found out that Ibrahim Ferrer and Ruben Gonzalez will be coming to my city for a concert and I couldn't be more excited!!!
Free Music Review: Finally, a cd with pure, real, music! Hit: 5 Stars
These are truly some of the best musicians I have ever heard. The music is real acoustic music not made over or covered up. Thanks to Ry Cooder for putting this group together. What can I say? Music like this is rare. What a blessing it is to have had these humble musicians come together and share their gifts and love of music with the rest of us. The Buena Vista Social Club is "music" nothing else can compare.
Free Music Review: sabroso Hit: 5 Stars
When I first heard this CD I was enchanted by Ibrahim's voice. As I am no stranger to Cuban music I still felt moved to hear the richness of this culture that has almost ceased to exist. "dos Gardenias" and OjosVerde make me weepy and his duo with Omara Portunodo is the best! A millions thanks to Ry Cooder for saving the breath and life of this wonderful artist. He is a jewel of the carribean.
Free Music Review: I love this album Hit: 5 Stars
I have listened this album several times before being able to judge it. At the first times it seemed good but not fantastic, just a bit too traditional if compared to BVSC. But after, I have gradually changed my opinion: this is surely a very good work, with the voice of Ibrahim Ferrer that shines. It is as worthy as the first BVSC album. My preferred songs are "Guateque Campesino" and "Bruca manigua".
