Free Music Notes for Buena Vista Social Club Presents Ibrahim FerrerFree Music Review: A superior follow-up to Buena Vista Hit: 5 Stars
This is a brilliant album, following up on the success of Buena Vista Social Club (BVSC), this time focusing on just one artist - Ibrahim Ferrer. He is backed by a similar band to that of BVSC, but this time the music is slower and more sensual. The beauty of this music is that septagenarian Ferrer and the band still come up with fresh sounding music after decades making music.
Free Music Review: Want to feel good? Buy this CD.... Hit: 5 Stars
In a nutshell buy this CD and then go out and buy 10 copies for your best friends, you (and them) will not stop playing this wonderful music. I was lucky enough to attend the BVSC concert in Santa Fe, NM on November 9 and met both Ibrahim and Ruben Gonzalez. As if their music was not good enough, they are also terrific people. Can't wait for the next one.
Free Music Review: Ethnomusical Masterpiece Hit: 5 Stars
A wonderful listen, as said in the movie that the music in Cuba does flow like a river. As with what we hear on this cd. From wuiet tepid waters to rapids of soul. I would genuinely like to shake Mr Cooders hand and say thank you for bringing this to us.The music may sound a little familiar but the soul behind it is the real diamond in the rough.
Free Music Review: Makes ya Smile.......it's magic, a must have Hit: 5 Stars
Everything about this CD makes you smile. It is a work of art. The ambiance will surround you with a sence of being there in some Cuban nightclub where the sounds of Ferrer's unmistakable voice and the instruments reflect from the walls creating pure magic. Highly recommended. Ry Cooder did the musical world a huge service in rediscovering this music.
Free Music Review: Pure delight Hit: 5 Stars
What a treasure this man is! And what a voice! Ever so sweet on the slower numbers, yet equally vibrant on the up-tempo pieces, especially "Que Bueno Baila Usted," which inspired me to search out the original from Beny More. I recently spent two weeks in Cuba, and this album takes me right back there. It's a treat from start to finish!
