Free Music Notes for IdiotFree Music Review: Unbelievable! Hit: 5 Stars
This album was released at the same time as Low was, and at the time, considered to be sounterparts of each other. Which isn't too far of a stretch. Although half of Low is filled with brilliant instrumentals, The Idiot shows Iggy's soft and sensitive side. He sings calmly and quietly, not the Iggy we used to know up onstage wearing his dog chain and no shirt. This is the new Iggy. He has come to Berlin and it has made him more mature and stunning then ever. It then affected his music. The Idiot is brilliant and a piece of rock music I couldn't live without! The tracks that stick out in my mind are "Nightclubbing", "Sister Midnight" (A song written about a reoccurring nightmare Iggy has where his father is chasing him), "Dum Dum Boys" and "Funtime".
Free Music Review: Iggy's self coming out Hit: 5 Stars
There has been quite some rumoring about Mr. Jones and his feeling of self-importance lately. I don't give a damn. This record is the ultimate expression of how he sees the world. It's 1977 - and that's a long time ago - and Mr. Jones and Mr. Bowie put on a show that is definitely mind-altering. This is a great album, probably the best in Mr. Pop's career, and the vinyl cries about the lack of justice, girls and huevos Iggy perceives. I certainly would not like to share his problems. But then, Iggy does not share mine. Great music, fabulous lyrix. A must-have.
Free Music Review: Iggy and Bowie, better together than alone Hit: 5 Stars
The best album ever by both Iggy Pop and David Bowie. But the theme of the album is suggested by its title -- self-hate. In China Girl Iggy expresses his love by telling her to stay away from him, and there's no moment in rock and roll quite like her paradoxically tender response -- "Oh, Jimmy, just you shut your mouth / She says shhhhh." The last three songs (side B of the record) get very deep into druggy despair. Lust for Life, the other Bowie/Pop album, is a sequel in more ways than one. The Idiot is about the descent, Lust for Life the recovery.
Free Music Review: An Ugly Masterpiece Hit: 5 Stars
One only has to hear the end of "Funtime", with it's raw, chill inducing shriek, to understand what Iggy is all about. This is certainly his best album, and one of the ten best of all time. The bizarre sexual imagery in "Mass Production" perfectly illustrates the way that industry is turning human beings into mindless, catatonic husks. And once you hear Iggy's version of "China Girl", you will fully understand what a complete whimp David Bowie turned into after "Scary Monsters".
Free Music Review: it's hard for me to give it anything less than 5 stars Hit: 5 Stars
"Funtime", "Nightclubbing", and "Dum Dum Boys" are such cool songs. Iggy's lyrics make soooo much sense and despite the name of the album, the songs are pretty intelligient (especially "Dum Dum Boys"). I think that the only Iggy album that is better than this is probably Lust for Life. If you've heard ANYTHING from The Idiot and you like it, but the cd because it's definately worth it.
