Free Music Notes for AncoraFree Music Review: I want to thank Simon Cowell... Hit: 5 Stars
Forget Eminem, Jesse McCartney, Hilary Duff and all the other pop-star/rapper wanna-be's who can't hold a note. Though, I must admit, I have Hilary Duff's Metamorphisis and Jesse McCartney's Beautiful Soul, along with a few Dream Street CDs, but back to talent here. After a world-wide search, 4, and only 4 lads with beautiful voices, (not to mention cute looks!) were selected to sing in the sensational opera quartet, Il Divo!
The guys sing beautiful songs in Italian, English and Spanish, not to mention French, and, in my opinion, they are sensational! Who do we have to thank for blessing us with this wonderful talent? None other than American Idol's own Simon Cowell! Simon is and has always been a genius when it comes to talent, but this...words cannot describe how much I love this album. If you believe in romance and miracle,s this CD is for you. If not, listen anyway, as this is defintily one for the ages!
In Italian, Il Divo means 'devine performer' or 'male diva'. Devine is right! I know some people may think I'm a little young to enjoy this type of music, but this is coming from a girl who listens to Frank Sinatra and Desi Arnaz! I love every single song on here and I'll break down my love for you...
1. All By Myself (Solo Otra Vez): Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, as are the rest of the songs on this CD! The vocals are stunning. 5/5
2. Isabel: If you were going to find a fult in this song, chances are, you cannot. Flawless! 5/5
3. I Believe In You (Je Crois En Toi) feat. Celine Dion: Possibly one of my favorites on this entire CD! It shows that if you believe in yourself, and with a bit of luck and magic, anything is possible. It also shows how to be happy with who you are and that only you, and you alone, can determine what kind of path you can have. Brilliant! This one is definitly for romantics everywhere. 5/5
4. You Raise Me Up (Por Ti Sere): The original version by Josh Groban is superb and I cannot find another word to describe it. I remember the first I listened to this, and I bet you will feel the same way, as you look around and see that the world is beautiful. Which it is. I could give this song a million stars if I could. Perfect. 5/5
5. Si Tu Me Amas: I think now would be the perfect time to say that...I have absolutely no idea what almost all of the songs on this CD are about, being that they are sung in a foreign language. Howvere, you feel that you can still connect with Il Divo through their lyics, and this song definitly proves it, though it is not one of my favorites. 4/5
6. Hasta Mi Final: Something about a final, I guess. This song is excellent and I loved it. 5/5
7. Heroe: A cover of Mariah Carey's "Hero". And, no offence to Mariah or her fans, I like THIS version BETTER. It's beautiful. 5/5
8. En Aranjuez Con Tu Amor: Loved it, loved it, loved. Yeah, did I say I loved it? 5/5
9. Esisti Dentro Me: If you had to rate this, on a scale of 1-10, it would be a 10. Wonderful. 5/5
10. Pour Que Tu M'Aimes Encore: Sadly, this is the last song. I very much enjoyed this song being sung in French. 5/5
Overall, I just think this CD is excllent. Wonderful. Flawless. PERFECT. And trust me, you don't hear this from em very often!
For providing me with this work of excellence, I would like to thank Simon Cowell, and of course, there would be no Il Divo without Sebastien, David, Urs and Carlos. This CD is definitly timeless and leaves you wanting an Ancora!
Ancora Poster2006 studio album that reflects the multi-national character of the group; the songs are not all sung in English, but drift between Spanish, English and Italian. However they are worded, all use the emotional Esperanto of love. The group's debut album, IL Divo hit the #1 slot on both Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble.com after a breakout career-defining appearance on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" (April 5, 2005) where the quartet performed its interpretation of Toni Braxton's ?Unbreak My Heart (?Regressa A Mi?). Highlights on Ancora include 'Isabel' a duet with Celine Dion and IL Divo's cover of Mariah Carey's 'Hero'. Columbia. There are those who will tell you that Il Divo, the multinational quartet of sharp-dressed crooners, synthesize Andrea Bocelli and Celine Dion to concoct something worse. And they will not be entirely incorrect. Yet it's hard to argue with a sensation that has entrenched itself so deeply so fast, and a first spin of Ancora makes it harder still: while predictable selections like "I Believe in You," a duet with Celine, and "You Raise Me Up," a Spanish-sung Josh Groban retread, ratchet up the treacle, the foreign-language tracks that are truly foreign lend this foursome enough Euro mystique to redeem them. Particularly melt-worthy is "Poor Que Tu M'aimes Encore," the closer. Singing in tongues, on the face of it, sounds like a bad idea. Ancora counters that with bold voices, brimming hearts, and its cover--if the songs aren't quite enough to seduce you, the singers might just do the trick. --Tammy La Gorce
