Free Music Review: A masterpiece for your ears!

As the opposite, I saw their concert first before finally decided to start collecting their album, and yup, Ancora is a masterpiece. This album (a second album from Il Divo - a classical-pop-quartet from UK) is a combination of English, Spanish (You Raise Me Up, Isabel), Italian (Esisti Dentro Me) and French (Pour Que Tu M'aimes Encore, I Believe In You/Je Crois en Toi - featuring Celine Dion). Talented 4 guys with perfect voices (2 tenors, 1 baritone, and 1 vox populi); have made them such a great pop-classical group. Slightly reminds me with Andrea Bocelli and The 3 Tenors, the same quality of voice, but with more touch of pop musical.
I must say a huge thanks to Mr Simon Cowell, the one man stands behind their success. Now my only expectation for their next album, that they can sing more of their own songs, and not just sing someone else's and changes the language (though I must say that some songs are better when they sing them in Spanish and French instead of English). Hope they can start collaborate more with great composer such as David Foster, then I can't wait to get their next album.

This album doesn't contain quite the variety of the first album. All of the pieces have an unprecedented sweep of lush romanticism such as was not heard even on the first album. These songs must have been so carefully picked, they suit the styles and voices of this pop/opera band soooooooo well. If possible, the four voices blend together better and with more power. The songs flow and soar as never before. There aren't any words to express how much I appreciate this group and just what I think of them. They are a God send, in times of music that is so often not worth being called music. Ancora is truly music from heaven and is brought by divine voices and truly incredible singers. (Urs is still a work of masculine beauty without compare) But if you liked the first album, Ancora is a MUST.
The best track is Heroe. One of my favorite pieces in both albums. Indescribable. You have to listen to it for yourself. Sweet, beautiful, moving, powerful... I could go on and on. All of the tracks are worth listening to over and over again. Five stars!

I am a fifty-three year old grandmother and an ardent fan of Il Divo. I have all their CDs and a video. There are only two songs on Ancora that disappoint but, only because I just don't like those songs. Il Divo still sings them beautifully! Anchora is every much as good as their first CD and I highly recommend that Il Divo fans run, don't walk, to their nearest retail store and purchase Anchora for their collection. You won't be sorry!
Il Divo is not for opera purists. But, they fill a much needed nitch between pop and opera. Their music spans the generation gap, much as Josh Groban's does. It is such a pleasure listening to those wonderful voices! Their renditions are romantic and easy to relax to. My only other disappointment with Ancora is that there are only ten songs to enjoy! I can hardly wait for their next CD!

May I first say to people who don't appriciate these kinds of music are entitled to their own likings in various generes but if they come here bashing on specific artist like Il Divo, we may simply say that they are immature and childish characters that have nothing to do but to write reviews like the one we see below. Now I will say that Il Divo is simply amazing and have created a new generation in music. Most of us agree that today's music is very shallow, but Il Divo is simply something we have been wanting to appear. Four men with such great voice talents and music that just warms the soul. Thank you Il Divo. I recommend it to anyone, and if you are not sure whether you'll like this let me ask you... are you willing to be closed minded the rest of your life? this album is fabulous. the duet with celine dion soars into the stratosphere, and pour que tue m'aimes encore is breathtaking. i have read a review of this album in People magazine and they have no idea what they are talking about. they gave it two stars out of five, and gave the Notorias B.i.G. cd 3-1/2 stars. I am in a rage that they can give a rapper almost four stars and il divo, a professionally trained - mostly operatic voices two stars. Don't read professional reviews and trust me, this album is simply sensational! I bought it from amazon.com/u.k. a few months ago and still listen to it every day and still get shivers up and down my spine. Their voices are strong, emotional and powerful, not bombastic as People magaine states. Run and buy it.
