Free Music Notes for Il DivoFree Music Review: Best way to review this album.... Hit: 5 Stars
...is track by track.
1. Unbreak My Heart (Regresa a Mí): The original Toni Braxton version was and still is the best but this take is absolutely amazing, too. The strings predominate in the opening section, and the guitar adds a Latin touch to the song much akin to Toni's recording of this hugely popular song.
2. Mama: A beautiful and touching song. Might bring tears to your eyes.
3. Nella Fantasia: Enchanting. Not to say the other versions of this song weren't enjoyable, not at all.
4. Passerà: Lovely, to say the least.
5. Unchained Melody (Senza Catene): The Righteous Brothers would have been amazed to hear this.
6. Every Time I Look at You: Again, nicely done.
7. Ti Amerò: This song left me stunned on the first listen and it might do the same to others. Amazing. Period.
8. Dentro un Altro Sì: Another great track.
9. The Man You Love: This does sound pop-like but it has a fabulous lead melody.
10. Feelings: Probably one of the most interesting songs on this CD because it has a sensational, almost Andrea Bocelli-like sound and arrangement.
11. Hoy Que No Estás Aquí (As Far as Any Man Could See): Nicely done.
12. Sei Parte Ormai di Me: Simply put - fascinating.
13. My Way (A Mi Manera): This version is more dramatic than Frank Sinatra's version (complete with bells tolling) but also very well done, and, in contrast to Sinatra's recording, ends completely with a dynamic forte.

Free Music Review: The next Level! Hit: 5 Stars
Being an avid "popopera" fan and performer, I can say without reservation that this group has taken the genre to the next level of public awareness.
This CD is possibly equalled only by Amici Forever's first release.
These four young men each possess fine voices and they use them to full effect on each selection here.
I've seen that other reviewers found the musical selection lacking in style, or that the voices are too much for the music performed....and since we all have our own taste, I can see that.
However, I by no means agree with any of the negative critizism leveled upon this CD.
As for the highlights of this CD, I would have to tracks 1-4 and 12 & 13 are the stand-outs here.
I won't break each sng down by title as that has been already done times over by other reviewers, thus I will only say that this CD is a great find for any classical crossover lover as well as for anyone totally uninitiated into this great genre of music.
One word of caution. This is not the Bocelli type sound that I believe many listeners expected to get when they purchased this CD.
These men make no attempt to "thin out" their voices in order to sound more "pop" like...well...not for the most part anyhow.
More than not the listener will be treated to a mixture of sensual music, coupled with full, rich and distinctly operatic tenor voices.
Neither do these guys sound like the over-hyped Josh Groban....these guys are REAL tenors and true exponents of the classical crossover genre.
This CD is for those of you who enjoy soft ballads and the sound of the classically trained voice combined into one wonderful project.
Free Music Review: Outstanding! Hit: 5 Stars
Are you Ready to try something new? Whether you're into classical music or not Il Divo brings out the classical in anyone! Il Divo may not be your traditional classical group, but they are wonderful singers that bring together several languages. Whether the lyric is in English, Spanish or Italian, these men have a great ability to express emotion through the songs. Their Debut album is mostly mild ballads, but with varied lyrical content. This album is perfect for catching the attention of music lovers, recreating old songs with their addition of new songs. The song titled "The Man You Love" is the ultimate love song. It represents a great song brought together by men who speak and sing in different languages. It is great for all the brides looking for pre wedding songs. Even though "Unbreak My Heart", is a remake following the song is not at all hard, it's breathtaking to hear the different languages, and know the words in English, it represents a trademark for the group. Their voices blend very well. Reproducing old songs in such a way no one else can. This album represents a dramatic, opera feeling. It is easy listening, and calming to everyone. The best thing about it is you don't have to understand the language to enjoy the songs. The Italian and Spanish language, may not be familiar to most but it, sweeps you away into the music. It is so powerful that you enjoy it without knowing what they are saying. Their second release Ancora is just as enjoyable as the first one! It includes a few remakes and newer versions, along with some of their own. Comparing them to another is impossible to me, they were the reason I've grown to appreciate classical music, and opened my ears to others.
Free Music Review: Passionate Synergy Hit: 5 Stars
Purists might snub at this quartet of voices, but their own limitations would cause them to miss a grand synergy of passionately executed music. This album is among the best of the new crossover singing today. One thing that is certain is change, and like it or not, purists are being left behind in the dust of their own critical eliteness. Beautiful voices like Josh Groban, Andrea Bocelli, Sarah Brightman, and Charlotte Church are among the pioneers that forced the bigger names (Pavorotti and other opera stellars) to rethink their music capabilities.
IL DIVO as an album is well constructed in a variety of classical and modern music. Beautifully orchestrated to add to the flow of the passionate performance, this quartet of versitile voices is enhanced by the mere fact that they all allow each other to shine in their particular solo part. There is no trying to out-do the other. This generates a synergistic performance that is strong and passionate, with each being lifted up by the others in the background. They are having FUN expressing their talents! There is so much to listen to in each song of this album. BRAVO!
As the world becomes more eclectic, as we cross borders once forbidden by narrow-minded purists, as we listen to other languages being expressed in rich tones, and as we embrace and celebrate our differences, rather than be critical of them, we truly will allow joy and peace to return to this world.
These young men are riding on a wave of the new musical future. May a second album be soon in the making!
Free Music Review: My intro to becoming an il divo fan Hit: 5 Stars
I first fell in love with Il divo when I saw them perform on an episode of Idol Gives Back. I thought their performance of Somewhere from West Side Story was amazing. I got the An Evening With Il Divo Live in Barcelona cd/DVD set at Barnes and Noble and I was not disappointed at all. Just watching the DVD makes me feel like I am at the venue watching it live. The concert is absolutely incredible. All the songs on the DVD are amazing. I love every one of the guys but David Miller really jumps out at me. His voice is absolutely incredible. The way he is able to reach those higher ranges when he is singing just blows me away. One of the songs which is on the concert That I like is their rendition of Unbreak My Heart which they do in Italian. Another song on the DVD which I like is their rendition of She. One other song on the DVD that they do a powerful rendition of Is Adagio. I also like their rendition of Nights In White Satin which they do in Italian. I also like their rendition of Hallelujah. The songs on the DVD are done in many languages including Italian, English, Spanish and French. another song on the DVD that I like is their version of Pour Que Tu M'Aimes Encore which they do in French. The guys are very fluent on this song and this is a fun song to clap along to. Another song on the DVD that I like is their rendition of La Vida Sin Amor which is done in Spanish and this song is fun to dance to. I recommend this group to anyone who has never heard them. This would be a perfect addition to any classical music playlist.
