Free Music Notes for SiempreFree Music Review: Il Divo, better than ever! If that's even possible. Hit: 5 Stars
I just received Siempre by IL DIVO to complete my collection. I can't believe it, but this one is beyond great! The four voices and personalities blend better than they did previouisly, David and Carlos have finally joined the band rather than being two soloists working to outdo each other. They now very naturally work to blend their voices with Urs and Sebastien. Urs' voice used to annoy me as it was presumably well trained but had an annoying white tone'd vibrato that made him seem insecure. In this CD, Urs truly has found his place and he has modulated the white tone and vibrato (yes, in the same voice) and now presents a beautiful, clear, tenor to add to the outstanding music. Most dramatically, Sebastien, the step-child from the Pop world, has found his voice. He is now singing in full voice, as well as gentle and quiet, has gained enormously in confidence and is a vital member of the band. Carlos and David are better than ever as leads. All the men have matured and Siempre is an outstanding work of art that meets Simon Cowell's criteria; the band was designed to 'cross-over' Pop and Opera.
The back-up orchestrations are still magnificent and provide the perfect back drop for IL DIVO.
This CD truly is incredible.
Free Music Review: Yet Another Triumph!!! Hit: 5 Stars
I make no excuses. I am a fan of Il Divo and proud of it. These men are not a "boy band," but a quartet--and a well-matched one at that. It's been a long time since I've heard music like this, and I never expected to hear it in the Pop genre.
"Siempre" is just as beautifully done as their past efforts, but it's also quite different--more up-tempo songs and things you wouldn't have expected. I usually reserve this time of year for Christmas music (Il Divo's "The Christmas Collection" is also exquisite!), but I'm going to have a hard time this year because I am in love with Il Divo's rendition of "Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman?" The criticism that they need new material is unfounded. There are several new songs on this album--the hauntingly beautiful "Come Primavera" comes immediately to mind. Also their version of the John Miles favorite, "Music," was completely rewritten for them by the composer himself.
If you liked Il Divo's past albums, you will love "Siempre." If you haven't yet discovered these young men, do yourself a favor and give them a try. They are truly phenomenal.
Free Music Review: This is what great music and singers sounds like! Hit: 5 Stars
When I first heard that Simon Cowell was scouring the globe looking for members of a classical group, I was curious. Those in the US and UK know Simon as the scerbic judge on American Idol and in all honesty, I wasn't looking forward to what he might come up with.
Then I heard about IL Divo and saw them perform on Oprah; my jaw dropped and I have been a devoted fan ever since. I just got Siempre and I heard that they were doing a rendition of Nights in White Satin. I like the original and it's not an easy song to remake. I sat, I listened and I thought and I listened again. I couldn't believe it. They were wonderful. My only complaint with the song is that it was too short. I wanted to hear them sing the whole thing (it's a reasonably long song) but that's how much I loved it. So I am an IL Divo fan through and through. Here's hoping their current tour comes to the US. I AM THERE!
Free Music Review: Tremendous! Hit: 5 Stars
Not a loser in the songs on the album. I was especially pleased with the enunciation. I could hear clearly every word they sung and follow along with the written version. This may sound like a strange review, but so many of today's popular singers seem to scream a song, and at the end people say, "I could not understand a word."
The second point is that they conveyed the emotional meaning of the song. Whether I knew the language or not, the message of the song was conveyed. Again, so many singers of popular music today are more concerned with whatever technique/beat/whatever they want to use, they care nothing about the song's message. Consequently their singing is not at all related to the song.
Siempre was utterly enjoyable.
Free Music Review: Siempre (Il Divo) Hit: 5 Stars
This cd, Siempre, by Il Divo, it absolutely beautiful. It is a mixture of angelic, typical Il Divo, and fun tracks.
It has to be listened to with no distractions....I put the tape in my car and it is too powerful, too distracting, to
be driving to! It is different from their usual, which I also love, of course.
Love to the guys, for the love they put out to us. Stephanie, Newport Beach, Califoronia USA.
PS: Everyone I introduce to Il Divo, including dvds is enchanted, thanks me in awe of them, and of course
goes out, buys and intros them to other friends of theirs.
PPS: Urs, you hear from the angelic as did Mozart, Chopin, etc., and you remind me of an angel..your voice
and just you.
