Free Music Review: Delightful and Fresh
Hit: 5 Stars

Just listening to the first song on the album "First Train Home" will relax you. If you liked Imogen when she was in Frou Frou, then you will LOVE this album. The songs are light, exciting, meaningful, and deep.

My favorite tracks are (in no particular order):

1. First Train Home
2. Wait it Out (my favorite song)
3. 2-1
4. Little Bird

I have not been listening to the album for more than a week, but it's already infected me. It's so easy to listen to, really a delight.

Update: Actually, when I think about it, "Wait it Out" is really the best song on this album. I'm listening to it now as I write this and I keep putting it on repeat. The song has a amazing climax in the middle and it's just breathtaking. I highly recommend listening to it before listening to any of the other songs. My favorite part of the song is this:

"All I want, only one, street level miracle
I'll be an out and out, born again, from none more
cynical

And sit here cold, we will be long gone by then
In lackluster, in dust we layer on old magazines,
fluorescent lighting sets the scene
in the one life that we've got

And sit here
Just going to wait it out
And sit here cold
Just going to sweat it out
Wait it out "

Free Music Review: Imogen Heap my angel in distress.
Hit: 5 Stars

Being an artist and a kitchen worker her emotive style suits me.
I have listened to it over and over again. Its moods are strong and their are various layers to be discovered when you allow her exotic harmonies(beautiful voice)to sweep over you.
Her use of technology in her music is also masterful.
I listened to "Ellipse" over and over again, painted to it,meditated to it, allowed myself to feel like the intense feelings she radiates.
I feel her!
If music is a landscape she takes you soaring into a unique world which is mysterious, has wonderful depth, colour, harmonies to heal, has marvellous elevation, and has deep pools some of which are dark, but she is there guiding you through it saying how she(we) got there, sometimes with a sense of funkiness and often with a sense of humour.
A somewhat heavier mood/affair than her last outing.(But accordingly the romantic girl had no live-in lover man at the time she recorded it).
So a little-angst-ridden (so wouldn't you)?(lol!)
Worth buying it for Imogen's exotic use of her beautiful voice-range,mastered to perfection.
Remember this one her the "Best Engineered album " at the Grammy's- Quite a feat considering her sporadic but integrity-filled career for somone so young.
and the half-million fans on her Twitter can't be wrong ?

Free Music Review: Imogen Heap's Vocals Make Ellipse Another Hidden Gem
Hit: 5 Stars

There are so many subtleties in Heap's work that take, not only a finely-tuned ear to discern, but even some getting used to. She's among my favorite vocalists of all time, and I've only recently found her through Pandora. While working on a project and listening to Pandora in the background, I noticed a particular song, went to the computer to see who it was and found Frou Frou. Again, heard tantalizing vocals with that certain timbre that reaches you and went to see the artist and found Imogen Heap. Only later upon further investigation did I discover that the two are the same (vocalist). I put her in the female vocalist class of Karen Carpenter or Allison Kraus. While these artists don't share similar styles or even voices, it's the purity of their vocal instruments and talents the put them at considerable distance from the masses.

Free Music Review: Superb from Beginning to End
Hit: 5 Stars

ELLIPSE puts Imogen Heap firmly in my pantheon of singer-songwriters. The studio craft in this CD can be appreciated on MP-3 players, but it is downright astonishing when heard on a decent stereo or surround system. The thirteen tracks are juxtaposed to highlight the originality of each and there is no filler.

Heap knows how to drawn on her musical heritage and make it new, from folk to technopop: "First Train Home" belongs in the proud line of train songs, "2-1" flirts with admonitory anthem. Heap's musicality shines in the ways her songs develop: some are catchy from the first bars ("Bad Body Double," for instance), but most use their lyric structure to unfold gradually, with limited use of refrains and considerable freedom in the repetition of melodic lines. I've bought extra copies to give away to friends.

Free Music Review: Stunning.
Hit: 5 Stars

I was fortunate enough to have been introduced to Heap's exquisite song, 'Hide and Seek', a couple of years back and have greatly been anticipating her new work. I followed her YouTube videoblog during the making of the album and was truly impressed with her talent and dedication to her music.

This album is, quite simply, a trip. It's woven like a beautiful tapestry, with one track leading perfectly into the next. It's a bit jazz, a bit indie, a bit classical, a bit rock, a bit soundtrack, and all genius. Just when you think a track is simple and sweet, it breaks out and SLAMS you with a chorus that makes you feel as if you're standing at the top of the highest mountain, singing with every ounce of power your lungs can muster towards the glorious awes of living.

Nice to meet you, Imogen. Please stay.
