Free Music Review: Imogen weaves a rich and interesting tapestry
Hit: 5 Stars

I like music that doesn't say all it has to say on the first listen, and this album fits that criterium well. Imogen clearly puts her heart and intelligence into her music. This, combined unique vocal talent and excellent production make for a great listen. I love the subtle introduction of middle-east chant-like aspects in a few places. The inclusion of real strings really fills out several of the songs. What also stuck out to me is the thought that was put into some of the bass lines; more interesting than the usual key-setting notes.

As a guy, Bad Body Double feels a little on the silly side, like watching a "cheesy chick flick", but the lyrics are rather clever and the music is so good that I can stand it. Really nothing else to say negative about the album; it's a fine work of art.

Free Music Review: A Grower Indeed
Hit: 5 Stars

Imogen has presented us with a brave, new interesting gem of an album, which takes a few spins to secure a vital attachment. True, at first, it sounds like all bells, whistles, vacuums, and bird songs, but upon the second and third and fourth listen, the songs slowly begin to leap out at you, as if to say, "here I am, here's my hook, you missed me the last time, because you were too overwhelmed with everything going on." Honestly, there's so much beauty to be had here. 'Swoon' and 'Canvas' are mesmerizing. 'Aha' is a magical carpet ride fit for a Tim Burton film, and 'First Train Home' is the obvious first choice of an ear-pleasing single. As for the closer, 'Half-Life', well, it's sugar on the ears, heartbreakingly gorgeous, and the reason Imogen is a star in the making.

Free Music Review: Super Talented Girl, Amazing Album
Hit: 5 Stars

I first listened to Imogen Heap on the Frou Frou album "Details." I liked what I heard, so picked up "Ellipse" and am loving every second of it. There are no weaknesses here. What I truly admire her for is her songwriting skills. She manages to create beautiful music while making her messages clear. The layers in her songs (notably "Canvas") create stunning sounds that mesmerize me. Not only that, the way she is able to harmonize is stunning (examples include "Little Bird" and "2-1"). My favorite so far is "Swoon," a unique, amazing song that helps distinguish her from imitators. "Bad Body Double" makes me smile. It is another example of how this girl has a gift for writing songs. She is amazing, and so is this album!

Free Music Review: Eargasmic Masterpiece
Hit: 5 Stars

After following the video blog for months, my hopes were sky high. This album delivers on every possible criterion!

The resemblance to Speak for Yourself is uncanny - Ellipse is not a revolution - but if it is not a pinnacle, it IS a peak of success. She has refined her style down to necessities; some of the sounds in Speak for yourself were disorganized and crowded. In this album, Imogen only uses what is necessary to convey her musical ideas.

I would discuss highlights of the album but really there are none - each song has something to offer, and each song stands on its own. To experience true aural artistry, listen to this masterpiece!

Free Music Review: Simply Beautiful
Hit: 5 Stars

So, this is what we have been waiting for. Watching Imogen's YouTube updates every few weeks, getting snippets of the songs that are now accessible to us. I can't be happier with this album, really. I feel the need to go back and watch the YouTube blogs again just to get a better sense of experiencing it with her. The song, Aha! sounds like it should be in a Tim Burton movie (doesn't it? That would be cool!) and I love Bad Body Double - this song is so fun to listen to. The Fire is almost haunting and I love the layers and layers of sounds that Imogen incorporates into each and every song. Well worth the wait. Thank you!
