Free Music Review: I'm a kid again!

I can't say enough about this album. I grew up listening to a lot of music. In those days I recall coming across certain albums that really resonated with me; many of us did I'm sure. I'd listen to them over and over again, and they connected with me. They were emotionally satisfying, a catharsis for all that adolescent angst. I grew older; and albums don't usually seem to do this as much, or to the same degree. I still love music, but there's just so much of it out there I rarely play albums over and over again any more in that way.
This album changed all that! So original and fresh. One aspect I really appreciate is her allowing at times the lyrical content to determine the meter of the song. This is I'm sure one of many techniques she incorporates to come up with some of the most enjoyable and interesting melody lines I've ever heard. Sometimes people just pick the right form of expression and really give us something that connects on a deeper level. All I can say is, thanks!
Free Music Review: SPEAK FOR YOURSELF

There is a certain darkness and intriguing quality in the Sound of Imogen Heap's sophomore album, Speak for yourself. It seems to me that, somehow, it shows the sadness behind the clown's smile, it portrays the warmth of a sun-drenched morning upon the raging sea. With this album, Imogen Heap grabs the concept of pop music, and takes it to another level, where she undresses her fears, her emotions, and ultimately, her heart, as a means to seduce you and inspire you.
A song like "Say Goodnight and Go" could be the perfect soundtrack for all love stories, with its butterflies, its bubbles, its pink. "Have you got it in you" has no intention but to startle the listener. The haunting "The moment I said it" is an ode to tragedy and drama.
People say she could be the new Alanis Morissette. Other say there is an acoustic purity about her. I say "Speak For Yourself" is a brilliant piece of art, and that Imogen Heap is a force to be reckoned with. Discover her!
Free Music Review: YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW GOOD SHE IS UNTIL

You see her in concert. I saw Imogen Heap last night in Boulder and was BLOWN AWAY! I loved this album and all of her music, but after the show have a totally new respect for her absolute, unique talent! She mixes, she sings, she screams, she plays, she entertains in a fashion that few people on stage ever get close to. A one woman tornado of energy and pure, raw talent. I have listened to this album today with a totally new energy for her music. If you haven't ever heard I Megaphone, RUN don't walk to get it. It is out of print but offered here at amazon by people selling used and new copies. I paid over $40 for it and it has been worth EVERY penny! WOW, come on Imogen, keep writing, keep recording, keep keeping on! By the way, she mentioned last night that her new song (yes available now on her website) will be on the OC like Goodnight and Go! My only review is this CD from Imogen Heap. I'm not one to write reviews or listen to much electriconica music but this one is notably exceptional. I don't know how I came across this, I heard she sang for Frou Frou and I enjoyed her voice so much I tried a download from her. Hide and Seek is one song that will ruffle your feathers, getting under the skin, boiling emotions to the surface. I thought I was going to explode. Goosebumps, tears, whatever was within came right out. I will share this music with everyone I know. I've never heard of O.C. because I don't watch TV, so this came as a complete surprise. I'm telling you it overtook me. I fell apart right then and there. If you are looking for a powerful new musician, in a period when inspiration seems null / void, try this CD. If you are in love or love lost, this music will embrace you, hug you and you will feel love. From the heavens above. I was fortunate enough to pre-order this, and get an un-copy-protected version from Europe (I think you can order the european version still, and I don't think it's copy-protected). But irrerardless, this album is a must have. That's not to say that every song is great, because that's not true. But the songs that are great are so good that it makes the album necesarry. Imogen has come so far since Imegaphone. Although there was some good stuff on there, it wasn't a great album at all.
But with Speak For Yourself, you get incredible songs like Hide and Seek (very Laurie Anderson-ish), The Walk Closing In, The Moment I Said It, Headlock and Have You Got It In You. All must-have songs.
The songs that suck are Headlock and I Am IN Love With You. The remaining songs not listed are decent, but nothing great.
Anyway, do yourself a favor and get this album! It's worth it.
