In the Heights in a fantastic Latin Rap broadway musical. While enjoying the soundtrack, you can appreciate how diverse Lin-Manuel Miranda truly is. At the same time, you start to desire more and more albums from the same genre. This groundbreaking new musical is cool for teens, yet classy enough for grandparents (almost). Especially if you speak Spanish, this CD is for you. I saw this play in early March of 2008 and it was more than everything I was expecting. Immediately after watching it on Broadway, I went looking for the soundtrack, only to find out a few weeks later that they would release it in June 2008. It was well worth the wait. "In The Heights" deserved all four Tony Awards that it won, and it shows on this album.
Thank you to the cast, and Lin-Manuel Miranda for sharing this work with the world!

This show and its CD are AWESOME! Normally, no matter how much I enjoy a Broadway show, I never see it more than once, but this show was SO FANTASTIC(!) that once was not enough! I have now seen this show twice and would still love to go see it again! The singing, dancing, and storyline are excellent! "In the Heights" is an excellent sountrack of Latino Rhtyhm with the Broadway Musical Style, something we were missing to hear on Broadway.
Even if you haven't seen the musical you will love this Soundtrack because the story is just amazing and it is a reflection of current NY society, there is this a mix between Latino and American culture printed all over the Musical filled with Salsa and Merengue.

This is, by far, one of my favorite plays of all time. I've now seen "In The Heights" three times and listening to this recording gives a great feel of the energy produced during the live musical. If you enjoyed the musical live, or your concidering going, this CD is a great representation of the music and lyrics created by Lin-Manuel Miranda. Definitely a great purchase for anyone that's a fan of Broadway in general.
