Make yourself is not any other album, as it would seem considering that Incubus is not the most musically talented band in the world but there is a certain theme and an energy to this album.Tracks like Nowhere fast, Make yorself and of course Drive bring out a certain resilience and an inspiration to all young and old ...you have to do what you like and you are the one who is gonna do it.Come on go ahead and make yorself.Enjoy

Free Music Review: My Favorite CD, Heaven to your Ears
Hit: 5 Stars

Let me start out by saying I am a huge Incubus fan. The album that got me into Incubus is Morning View. The album that made me love Incubus is Make Yourself.

Make Yourself is quite simply amazing. Two things are most important in songs:

1. Vocal talent - Brandon Boyd is a beautiful singer, his normal singing voice is extremely soothing to listen to, making songs like "I Miss You" a moving lullaby that one can't help but mouth the words along to with our loved one in mind. In contrast, energetic songs that make you want to get up and scream along with Brandon are also extremely well delivered, like the album-title song, "Make Yourself". No one can deny he is one of the most talented male singers of alternative rock.

2. Instrumentals - Mike Einziger delivers extremely catchy guitar melodies, and some that just make you feel like dancing like a crazy-person and screaming the words ("Blood on the Ground", "Sick Sad Little World" from Morning View and ACLOTM). DJ Kilmore offers talented turntable tricks to entraced listeners like myself, and is a wonderful eddition to the band, making songs like "Pardon Me" something they could never be without him. Ben Kenney, the guy I share a name with (At least the Kenney part), supplies the bass to the songs that give life to to my subwoofer along with Jose Pasallis's drum ryhthms. In the end, Incubus supplies the crave for that special instrumental that is very catchy and unique.

This album in particular is near-perfect. I love every track on the CD and have listened to it hundreds of times. If I had to choose tracks to avoid it would be "Clean" and "Out From Under". I didn't care for either of these at first, but (something that seems to hold true with ALL Incubus music, save a few songs) the more I listened to it, the more it grew on me.

[Track Reviews in order of my favor]
1. So hard to choose! I'll say "Make Yourself". The segement where Brandon screams "MAKE YOURSELF!" in the middle is awesome.

2. "Pardon Me". I can relate to this song, feeling like the stress will make you spontaneously combust. The bwick-bwickies by Kilmore are unbelievably catchy in this song.

3. "Stellar". Classic Incubus, classic song, beautiful lyrics and riveting guitar. Heavy-instrumental love song.

4. "I Miss You". When Incubus does a slow song, they do them right. I can also relate to this when missing someone I love. Definitely a beautiful song.

5. "Warmth". A reminder when things go bad and everyone seems like they're evil that it's not always this bad, and that you should experience happiness before you die.

6. "Drive". A popular radio hit. If you listened to the radio often the past 6 years odds are you've had an overdose of this song and will never want to hear it again. But this should tell you something about the song and the album, they're both extremely liked, and for a good reason.

7. "Nowhere Fast". Simply catchy. Good vocals.

8. "When it Comes". What can I say, most of the songs I like for no other reason than they sound extremely good to me, this is one of those.

9. "Consequence"
10. "Privelege"
11. "Battlestar Scratchlactica" - A complete instrumental with DJ Kilmore and two DJs of a hip-hop group, the name of which eludes me right now.

12. "Clean"
13. "Out From Under"

Incubus is definitely one of those listen-to-more-than-once bands. The first song I heard was Stellar, thought it was okay at the time, listened to more, now I regard it as a classic.

And what you've heard about Incubus is unfortunately right, A Crow Left of the Murder is an unfortunate downgrade, but still an extremely good album as well. S.C.I.E.N.C.E is great in the beginning, but "bleh..." in the end, and the earlier CDs (Fungus Amongus and Enjoy Incubus) are of a totally different genre, I'd call hardcore funk or something.

Just pick the CD up if you have good taste in music. Give it a chance and you'll definitely love it. If not, I pity you and your taste!

Free Music Review: Excellent!!
Hit: 5 Stars

I think ''Make Yourself'' by Incubus is great. First off, I love this band. That's not why I think this album is good though. Let me first start off with that Incubus has a very unique sound that not many alternative/rock bands have. Also each song on this album has a story behind it and I think the lyrics are amazing! I especially think "Nowhere Fast" and "When It Comes" are very good, recommended songs. If you are trying to look for a unique sound with creative lyrics then Incubus is the answer. All of their albums are wonderful but this one just had an impact on me a bit more. *Thumbs up!*

Free Music Review: Incubus-Make Yourself
Hit: 5 Stars

I am a hardcore Incubus fan and I think this is their greatest album of all. I really love the messages in these songs and the electic/main-stream mix feel the album has. I really like all of the songs and they sound great when perormed live. So I hope you all enjoy too!

Free Music Review: "Sell-out" is so overused...
Hit: 5 Stars

Alright guys...enough with the "Incubus sold out" stuff. The reason I love Inucbus so much is the diversity of their music. Each album is different and is excellent in its own way. My first Incubus CD was S.C.I.E.N.C.E. and I absolutely loved it. However, I recently picked up "Make Yourself" and it became one of my favorite CD's. It's one of those CD's that makes you say "this is my favorite song!" every time a new song comes on. My favorite song on the CD is probably the title track. Lyrically, this is my favorite Incubus CD as well. My least favorite songs are probably "Drive" and "Stellar," although they are both really really great songs. Overall, this CD is a great transition between "S.C.I.E.N.C.E" and "Morning View." Just because a band's sound may change doesn't mean that they're selling out...as long as Incubus is playing music that they love and means something to them, they'll never be selling out. 5 Stars!!!
