Free Music Review: The greatest album ever?
Hit: 5 Stars

First off what I would like to say is that whoever put incubus in the catagory of metal or rap or rap-metal or whatever is quite possibly the dumbest person alive. In none of their albums do they even resemble this genre. Morning View is an excelent example of this.

One of the more brilliant aspects of this CD, and why I feel this could be the best album ever, is the balance of it. Every song on the album is ethereal and ballad like, without becoming too mellow, and heavy and rock like without being blasty and harsh. Not only did they control the extremes in every song, but every song has aspects of the extent to which they take the extremes. One thing that makes Brandon Boyd such a brilliant vocalist and singer is how he manages to make his voice almost another instrument. Unlike other rock bands whose vocalists tend to dominate songs, Incubus' instrumentals and vocals work together and play off each other to make a listening experience that is very unique.

The album's genious comes from the brilliant use of transitions, both within songs and between songs. Songs change freqently between heavy and calm, giving each song definate balance. At the same time, each song has its own feel if heavy or soft when it is finished and the arrangement of songs alternates them with fantastic transitions as well as giving the album overall balance. The balance motife continues within the writing of each song. Everything that is incorporated into each song is treated as an equally important instrument. The vocals, the guitar, the drums, the DJ, the bass, and all of the background instruments (piano, violin, sitar, etc.) take turns being the lead, focus, or drive of the song.

Free Music Review: Dreamy
Hit: 5 Stars

I love this album. All the songs seem to just go together, flowing like the water. It's like they have a dreamy quality to them. Not that they're soft, but I feel like they have that sort of element to them. Favorites are Nice to Know You, Wish You Were Here, but the entire album is great.

Free Music Review: in brandon's own words "stellar"
Hit: 5 Stars

Incubus.... where to start. These gentlemen are and have always been, without a doubt some of the best artist in their respective area. Each contributes a different talent, which can compare to anyone making music today. One listen to fungus amungus will show you that even at the age of 15 these boys knew their way around music better than most can ever claim All of the albums put out by incubus have their own respective place and each new step forward has been as amazing as the last. Morning View, in my opinion is the eye of the incubus storm. Every band has a time when they reach their musical peak. When each member fits so well with each other and the music they are making is no longer just notes but actual art filled with emotion and precision. In all honesty I feel like Incubus is one of the only bands I heave ever heard to actually be able to reach this on each album attempt, but Morning View has its own special feel. This album is filled with wisdom, insight and music, which is timeless. It seems that these boys just stepped back from the revolution they were preaching on Make Yourself and in doing so found themselves lost in a mess of beautiful music expressing some of the most powerful ideas of transcendence and obvious truths you could hope to find. Leaving all their musical and personal inhibitions behind these 5 amazing musicians stepped from their positions as n metal ringleader and showed the world how much they really were capable of. Brandon's lyrics and vocal range on this album offer the listener enough to keep this CD in any player for years. Mike's guitar is most often found meshed with Alex's bass in a constant flow of compliment. As with earlier albums much of this album was written put together by Alex and his bass work, which often goes unnoticed do to its perfect fit to every rhythm, is some of the most spectacular I have ever found. The drum work is very uniform to incubus's style and as always is very well written and executed. The turntable effects on this album have evolved from the rap feel of science. On this album it is actually hard to distinguish between Mike's experimental guitar effects and the spin of the DJ, which is where I feel it belongs.
I personally feel very strongly that this album was incubus's crowning achievement and could very well fall among the greatest ever written. Don't get me wrong the previous efforts of this band stand right along side this but as with any great artist; that which came before only leads to a new level of expression. This album just happened to be the climax. With the new addition of Ben to the group and the release of "A Crow Left of the Murder"(which was still better than most album released in 2004) I think that the pinnacle reached on MV was jumbled in the translation, but if you have heard the new material from both that album and the Halo 2 soundtrack you know that Incubus is on the verge of another orgasmic explosion. Can't wait to see where they take us next.

Free Music Review: a different, but awesome sound
Hit: 5 Stars

incubus has been my fave band for years, and morning veiw is my fave album. the sound is much different from thier previous CDs but is similar to that of A crow left of the murder. i enjoy the poetic lyrics and the touch of DJ in the music. a perfectly mixed disc, and one of my all time faves.

Free Music Review: Fantastically Mellow
Hit: 5 Stars

This disc is one of the best albums to come out in 2001. It's also quite a change from previous Incubus releases which is a good thing(ruts are bad). The album is rather mellow overall, but the guys aren't afraid to get heavy one in a while(Have You Ever, Under My Umbrella). There are some stellar, pardon the pun, tracks on here such as Just A Phase which is my favorite song they have evere done. Are You In?, Echo, Circles and Mexico are stand out tracks as well. I have a little advice for Aqueous Transmission: don't listen to this through headphones if you're tired. It is so mellow and beautiful, it can easily lull you to sleep if you're not careful.
