Free Music Review: ANOTHER GREAT WILLIAMS SCORE (Possible Spoilers)!
Hit: 5 Stars

Once again, maestro John Williams returns to lend his musical voice to an Indiana Jones movie with his epic, sweeping score for the latest installment, "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull." Now, is this the best score he's written for the series? No. But is it still a fantastic, thrilling score in the tradition of John Williams? You bet it is! Once again, Williams shows his talent of creating thoroughly entertaining themes and action music.
Where his drawback lies this time is the theme he's written for the Crystal Skull itself. Whereas his music for the Ark of the Covenant was both mysterious and thrilling, and his theme for the Holy Grail was haunting and spiritual, the theme he's written for the skull is eerie, but doesn't have that emotional connection with the McGuffin as in previous films.
But this is a small flaw for a truly magnificent score. The new theme he has written for Mutt is exciting and fun, while his theme for the villains is classic as well. And all the favorites are here, including "The Raider's March" and Marion's Theme. Sadly, the theme for Indy's Dad (Which now appears to be the theme for the Jones family) is missing from the CD. Overall, fans of Williams' previous scores for the series will not want to miss adding this to their collection!

Free Music Review: Not as good as the other 3, but.....
Hit: 5 Stars

John Williams delivers us a wonderful Action-packed score.... When I listen to this I KNOW I'm listening to an Indiana Jones score. Williams, in my, has managed to re-capture the sound of an Indy movie, with the creepy crawly music, the bursts of brass, the pulsing marchlike feel... its all here. Unlike Williams recent Star Wars scores for the new trilogy, which felt a little out of place and sometimes lacked an overall cohesive feel too it. I felt at times that the music in those scores didn't belong in a galaxy far, far away... But I thoroughly enjoyed those new scores too.

I think that if you expect to hear the same things as, say, Raiders of the Lost Ark, you're asking Williams to rehash where he's been before. Having said that he does DIRECTLY quote Raiders in a couple of spots, but then again I heard a direct quote from Hook in here too! (if you want a rehash-type soundtrack, get the score for Prince Caspian) I feel that this score has enough NEW thematic material that SOUNDS like a Jones movie! So again, while this isn't the best of his Indiana Jones scores, it is a VERY enjoyable one!!! I really get the sense of adventure when listening to this! Bravo!

Free Music Review: I love this score, john williams can really be considered genius
Hit: 5 Stars

I have been in love with movies and their scores and soundtracks since I was very small. I remember vividly sitting on my dads lap at the age of 5 watching this handsome man stand there with a staff and the music swelling in the background. I have been in love ever since with these movies. Can you imagine what the movie would have been like without the genious of John Williams? I have been an avid collector of soundtracks and scores my entire life. I am also a movie fanantic and it is because I was born into a wonderful time for STAR WARS and INDIANA JONES. Yes there are hints of music that have been intertwined in with this new and wonderful movie, I found them to be important and welcomed just as much as this new chapter in a wonderful adventure. I still get goosebumps when listening to all of John Williams work, and believe me, I have enjoyed them for many many years. I love everything about this.

Free Music Review: Great soundtrack-horrible package & 1 omission
Hit: 5 Stars

Remember, John Williams SHOULD have won the Oscar for the first film.

He is doing his thing here, does NOT disappoint. Normal outstanding work.

But, I can NOT listen to my CD. Why?

Where is the jewel box, AKA, the plastic CD case?
This is cheap & OUT OF LINE FOR THE COMPANY CONCORD RECORDS (NEVER HEARD OF THEM) & THE FILM MAKERS RELEASING SOMETHING LIKE THIS.

This is my major complaint with this item, HORRIBLE PACKAGING.

And, the omission. I KNEW this would happen.
For anyone who has seen the film, do NOT expect 'Hound Dog" to be on here. We KNEW the film makers would NOT pay Elvis's estate, RCA & any other people who would make money for the song being included on the CD after it was used in the film.

Rating for soundtrack NOT PACKAGE.

Film, was my least favorite of the 4.

Free Music Review: Yet Another Superb Film Score from Williams
Hit: 5 Stars

Composer John Williams does an elegant job revisiting his classic "Indiana Jones" themes from the original trilogy, along with some well-written new music for "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull". It was a most wonderful surprise hearing "Marion's Theme" from "Raiders of the Lost Ark" again. But I was quite impressed with the surreal "Call of the Crystal" with its almost otherworldly three note motif and "Irina's Theme", which is yet another superb example of "sinister" film music along the lines of a softer, but no less menacing "Imperial March" from the original "Star Wars" trilogy. While I won't rate this fine score as among John Williams' very best (e. g. "Schindler's List" and "Angela's Ashes" among others), it is still among his finest, and one worth listening to again and again.
