Free Music Review: Finally, a rock band that can play their instruments!

I heard a band that could write the most clever, spine-chilling melodies, who could bring back that grungy effect of the early 90's, and at the same time, play some killer solos through song bridges! Go ahead, listen to Amazon's clip of "When She Comes" and just let the solos flow through your body for a decent 30 seconds, and TELL ME you didn't enjoy it (even though you can't). But it's not just the first song, the magic spans through the cacthy somewhat radio-friendly title track as well. "Bullet" is one of the heavier songs and also was chosen as the album's second single. "Faithless" is pure genius, and it's surely 1,000,000,000,000 times better than anything Puddle of Mudd, or even Nirvana themselves have concocted. "Only Hurts Awhile" is a nice mid-tempo ballad to relax to; and "I-IV-V" has the best guitar chords on the album, hands down. "Sherman" and "Lights Are Low" offer a retro rock feel, letting us know that Injected's influences are much more deep-rooted than the 90's grunge scene. The next couple of songs are ok, nothing special but STILL better than typical nu-metal garbage. "Dawn" sounds like something straight off of Soundgarden's Superunknown, easily. The bonus track "Ride the Snake" showcases that the band might have possibly had some hardcore influences as well.

The songwriting is cleverly diverse, and it's no surprise that Butch Walker contributed somewhat, he did both Sevendust and SR-71 and I was impressed by those bands too. Basically, if you want a nu-rock band with real talent, not commercial talent, mind you, then go right ahead and pick this gem up. You WILL be doing yourself a favor in the long run.

(P.S. - In no way am I belittling fans of Puddle of Mudd, Smile Empty Soul or Trapt - just know that this band is 100 times better)
