I'm really pleased with this purchase, although the Cd took a little while to arrive I found out that it was because the Cd has to be ordered; but it was all good once I got it. The covers are pretty good, every artist did a good job adapting the songs to their own styles (but Avril Lavigne, I most say I didn't like her version of "Imagine"). To me this is something I just had to get because I'm a big fan of John Lennon since I was a little girl and to hear the new bands and singers perform these songs with a new touch to them it's just great, besides you support International Amnesty so that alone its good enough...

How great is this...! John Lennon's music once again assisting in changing one of the greatest travesties of our century. I was very young when John was taken from us, but I have always been a fan and teach my children "karma" using his words and music. Now, a whole new generation can hear his words/works and understand the love that we must all share for one another in order to change this entire world for the better. The only con I have is that some of the songs are dupilicates and I thought the Cure was supposed to be on the album. Otherwise I love this album!Free Music Review: A Great Sound for a Great Cause

The music on these cds is outstanding! Individually, each song sounds as if it was produced with John Lennon sitting by and nodding approval. Most of the songs are upbeat and empowering. It's a really positive set with a really important message being repeated in a new variety of voices. If you want to do something to contribute to world peace, pick up a copy for yourself or a friend. It's a great gift for any age! I haven't heard a better CD in a long time. I was a bit dubious, wondering how the various artists would cover these songs. But they all held true to the spirit, intensity and timeless messages of these songs. Listen to the samples here on Amazon. These are the types of songs we need now, the kind that urge people to act, to stop being indifferent, to IMAGINE (one of the songs) a world where things can be better. Plus, its for a good cause. It's always interesting to me to hear a musician / group that I like cover the work of another musician / group that I like. The question is - "would I buy that cover?" . I was not disappointed here. I like the songs selected but it was the groups picked to cover them that made this collection A+ for me.
I recommend this collection , but since covers are what they are, take a listen to the samples first. Like a lot of covers, people can have wildly different opinions of the right or wrong of it all.
