I have to admit, there are some great versions of John Lennon classics. However there are some songs that weren't that great. The great standout songs include Jakob Dylan's version of "Gimme Some Truth", Green Day's "Working Class Hero", and Jack Johnson's "Imagine". The biggest miss in my opinion was Aerosmith doing "Give Peace A Chance". They were overshadowed on that song by Sierra Leone's Refugee All Stars. Overall this is a must buy that will go for a great cause.Free Music Review: Very Impressed

I'm very impressed with this CD. It has tracks by a lot of artists I like, and even the songs by artists I'm not a fan of are pretty good. It is a solid collection of covers that goes towards a great cause. I definitely recommend! Highlights include "Mother" (Christina Aguilera), "I'm Losing You" (Corinne Bailey Rae), "Isolation" (Snow Patrol), "Grow Old With Me" (Postal Service), and "Real Love" (Regina Spektor).Free Music Review: classic songs with a fresh twist

it is obvious it is lennons music that makes this concept work the artists are suited to the songs the choice of songs also suit the mission for Darfur if i wanted it to sound just like lennon i could have bought another lennon cd i have the ability to enjoy this without over-anaylizing and picking the artists apart.ALL the artists involved had their HEARTS in the right place and it does show.Free Music Review: Beautiful Boy

Fantastic cause brings together fine performers who bring to life the intensity and focus of one of our greatest singer/songwriters ever. His insight into the world is amazing. The only negative thing one can say about this album is that it reminds us of the fact that no one can sing his songs the way he did. What can I say...it's John Lennon's songs so what could be bad. Certainly other artists have done their own renditions, but the magic of Lennon still comes through. I took a road trip where I only listened to this 2-CD set and the variety of songs/artists kept me entertained the whole way. The plus is that it helps Amnesty International help others...no loss here, only gains.
