Free Music Review: My favorite Iron Maiden album
Hit: 5 Stars

The thing about this album that is so special than the other albums is that there are 3 guitarists. This is my favorite Maiden album because it has this special progressive metal/ heavy metal sound to it. I first bought Powerslave about 2 years ago and i loved it. So then i bought Piece of Mind, than Number of the beast, than Brave new world. And the thing is, I like this best of all.

The Wicker Man - 9/10- This is an immediate hit from the album. You can just tell that you're in for a ride when you listen to this. The chorus gets a little annoying but the final "whoa" is worth it. A-

Ghost of the navigator- 10/10- This isn't a filler track like most people think. The riffs are killer! They kinda sound like a darker "can i play with madness" riff. The chorus doesn't really get boring either. This is the great prog. sound that i was talking about. People would be suprised if this song was on the Piece of Mind album because of the new sound. The "Take my heart and set it free" and the "nowhere left to run" part was really inspiring. Nice solo too. A

Brave New world-10/10- The intro guitar is very well played. The beginning lyrics are kinda creepy in a way. But still very cool. It gets better after the drums kick in. Oh my god the chorus is so good!!!! Not the lyrics but the voice of Bruce dickinson and the guitar has this great kinda slow galloping sound. The lyrics after the first chorus is superb. The "you were planned and you were damned in this brave new world" is just great. And the shift from the verse to the chorus is great. The solo is crazy! And by crazy i mean totally cool! It's like a double solo but the whole thing is continued. The quite ending isn't that great.I kinda don't make sense, do i? oh well lets go to the next song. A

Blood brothers- 8/10- This is actually an "okay" song. The thing that saves this song is the beginning, where the guitar or whatever instrument it is starts plucking sort of. Maybe it's the bass... I think this is sort of "steve Harris's" song. I mean bruce sings "..see a glimpse of your father..." which is probably about the father of Steve Harris who passed away around the mid 90's when Iron Maiden were creating the album "The X-Factor". The chorus kinda sucks. And by sucks i mean pretty boring. The other thing that saves this song is the guitar that starts doing this beautiful sounding melody around 3:26. Other than the bad chorus this song is just way too long! Overall the first bad song of the album. B-

The mercenary- 10/10- Forgetting the song before this, this song is the bomb!!!! A great song to wake up too! Bruce basically repeats the chorus for most of the song. The thing is i don't know which is the chorus! I don't think it matters because each one follows the other. "Show them no fear, Show them no pain!" Bruce has great vocals on this song and i don't think they should do a tribute to Iron Maiden with this song because no one can sing it like bruce! The solo is actually kinda "old fashioned". And by Old fashioned i mean sounds like a solo that could be on Powerslave. I couldn't stop playing the imaginary drums when i heard this song! great song. A

Dream of Mirrors-10/10- This is a great song but beginning is kinda boring! And it's not like the other songs where they play a little guitar intro and then the vocals. Bruce sings right off the back. The beginning lyrics sound like a confused little, mature kid who has experienced deja vu a little too many times and can't take it anymore. The chorus is actually very good. This song is the longest song on the entire album and is only 4 minutes short from achieving a "Rime of the ancient mariner", if you know what i mean. This song is the bomb when the drums kick in. And by drums i mean the bass drum, and the snare drum with the high hat. During this whole album Nicko mcbrain uses his cymbals to create a "achc chc achhhh achhh" kinda sound and it gets really annoying. The chorus is like i said great except the chorus around the 6:30 something mark where they speed it up. The "dream is true" part is boring as hell. Oh, sorry for my profanity. lol. I'm gonna skip ahead and tell you the great guitar part that starts around the 6 minute mark. Then the guitar gets better around the 7 minute mark where they have this super great galloping sound. The "whoa" that bruce sings with the guitar is even better! The solo is pretty good. The whole album jsut sounds really good when you're in your room and you look outside and you see a sunset and the sky is kinda purple. It's actually pretty. I don't really get the chorus though. A

The Fallen Angel- 9/10- The most ferocious song on the album. Starts off so heavy that it scares me. Just kidding. The chorus gets a little soft. Theres nothing much to say about this song because it's so short! I like to thing of it as a "bridge" from Dream of mirrors to The Nomad. This might be a little religious because bruce sings "Only you and god would know that i'm the only one". Oh well i don't thing anybody cares at all. Another solo. The thing about this album is that there arn't that many "hits" like "the trooper" or "Aces high". All the songs are just "steady". A

The Nomad-9/10- The beginning is pretty heavy! Then the weird arabic sort of guitar sound comes in. Some people may like it but i don't like it at all. I'm so tired of writing! Oh well. The verses are actually very good but the first chorus sucks! The second chorus is so beautiful!!!!!! It's so beautiful that if i put it on a quiet volume i might be able to go to sleep! The solo was pretty good. Or should i say solos'? you heard me or read me. I said solos'. which means that there are more then one solo on the song. Somehow this song reminds me alot of Rime of the ancient mariner. Around the 5 minute mark the guitar is quiet and beautiful. Like a swan in a lake. So peaceful. But before you go any farther you get hit by a heavy wall of sound! But still beautiful!! This is another song i can't stop playing the imaginary drums. the guitar around 7:22 is great!!!!! I just feel like bopping my head up and down slowly. Then suddenly in over 3 minutes, Bruce starts singing again. The verse and then the great chorus. Nomad!!! whoo this gets me pumped up when i run the mile. this like other songs end quietly with a fading ending. A

Out of the silent planet-11/10- MY FAVORITE SONG ON THE ALBUM!! Whenever i listen to this song i feel like i'm on top of the school roof playing the guitar and everyone below is watching with happy faces. The end of the the song "the nomad" has this "organ" thing that continues to this song. The guitar is just beautiful in the beginning. That's what i like about Iron Maiden. They can produce a great sounding album with quiet and LOUD songs. The verses are great. Nicko really stands out. The quiet version of the chorus is great. I can hear Adrian smith's chords!
This song is really "peaceful". Well the lyrics are anyway. The second time they sing the chorus Nicko has this galloping beat. What's up with Iron Maidens signature galloping sound? "Out of the silent planet we are!" That's what i like to hear. Then around 3: 44 the guitar has this continueing sound like an organ. Then they do the same thing but with a high pitched guitar sound. I love the guitar work for this song and this album. Some people say they were "moved" by movies, but i was "moved" by this song. I can't say it enough! GREAT CHORUS GREAT CHORUS GREAT A+

The thin line between love and hate- 9/10- I was fairly dissapointed when i first heard this song after i read the raving reviews about this particular song. How can this song be better then Hallowed be thy name?! Oh well. But over the months this song has really grown on me. The verses are great but was quite a shock when it doesn't really rhyme. I guess i was expecting too much of this song like i did when i heard Paschendale. Very nice solo. The chorus is really great. The second half of this song is really quiet. Almost an instrumental. I love the guitar and Bruce when they both "wail", "The thin line between love and hate". The sound of the guitar is amazing around the 6:44 mark. I really think this is a great way to end any album. I didn't really get the end where someone says "Oh, I F#$%@n' missed it.". No seriously! They say that. A

Thank you for reading my review. i appreciate it. I can't believe you even have enough time to read this review. This album has changed my life and has moved me by the way Iron Maiden can produce some great superb music. Some people say they were "moved" by movies but i was "moved" by Iron Maiden. Rock on.

Brave New World Poster

Brave New World's signature time changes, guitar harmonies, and urgent vocals render moot any question as to whether it will spawn Maiden classics to rival the likes of "Run to the Hills" and "Number of the Beast." Bruce is back, and all's right on this Brave New World. EMI. 2004.
Iron Maiden are nothing if not consistent. Since 1980's self-titled debut, they've been one of metal's preeminent torchbearers, spewing forth dramatic old-school, Euro-flavored arena-style metal, that to a non-fan might seem akin to Spinal Tap. The band's legion of followers, however, will rejoice at the 67 minutes of archetypal Maiden found on Brave New World. The album reunites their classic-period singer Bruce Dickinson with his longtime band following his self-imposed six-year absence. Also back on board is guitarist Adrian Smith, giving Maiden a scorching three-guitar lineup. Maiden's lyrical scope is as historic and elaborate as ever, their muscular musicality verging on the melodramatic. But that's what Maiden have always been about, and their sound is instantly recognizable on such meaty cuts as "The Mercenary," "The Fallen Angel," and "Ghost of the Navigator." Brave New World's signature time changes, guitar harmonies, and urgent vocals render moot any question as to whether it will spawn Maiden classics to rival the likes of "Run to the Hills" and "Number of the Beast." Bruce is back, and all's right on this Brave New World. --Katherine Turman
