Free Music Review: EDDIE THE GREAT!!!!
Hit: 5 Stars

A truly great collection of their hits. Their is some stuff missing, but what more can you really ask for from one of the worlds greatest bands

Free Music Review: super cd
Hit: 5 Stars

good cd, for iron maiden fans, though it has the same songs from other cds

Free Music Review: Iron Maidens Great Hits, but not the Greatest Hits
Hit: 4 Stars

Firstly the reason I say it is not a greatest hits album is due to the fact that it simply does not have the greatest hits Maiden have ever done. Sure it has some, but not them all and some greats have been misses such as Powerslave, Be Quick Or Be Dead, Aces High, the list goes on much further.

Even though it has missed some great songs it does not lack in quality. For any new comers to Maiden this album will be great for you. It will give you a taste of some of their best work and leave you wanting the goods that have been left out. However if you are a long time Maiden fan this will be somewhat of a disappointment due to the tracks which have been left out, although I still suggest you pick it up as it is worthy of a place in your CD collection.

And now onto the tracks:

Run To The Hills - A Maiden classic. The only thing I will critise is the drums. Could have been a little more adventurous but still great. (4/5)

The Number Of The Beast - Great guitar, great drums, great bass,
great vocals. Just all round great. (5/5)

Flight Of Icarus - This one isn't quite as hard as the previous two but it's still good Although it doesn't have anything that will WOW you either. (3.5/5)

The Trooper - Great guitar in this song. One of my favourite Maiden songs. It couldn't be a greatest hits album without it. (5/5)

2 Minutes To Midnight - The drums here are awesome. It couldn't be a greatest hits album without this song. (5/5)

Wasted Years - This one slows down the album a little, although it's still not really that slow. Even though it's kind of different it's still good. (3/5)

Can I Play With Madness - Everything about this song is great except for the guitar. It's good but nothing special which is a disappointment for Maiden. Still great song though. (4/5)

The Evil That Men Do - Another classic Maiden song. This one has everything your every going to need in a song. (5/5)

The Clairvoyant - Another song that begins to slow the album down. This one works better than Wasted Years for me. No great WOW moments but it's still good. (3.5/5)

Infinite Dreams - This one begins off slow where The Clairvoyant left but gets heavier as the song progresses. This one is, for me at least, a song that gets better the more times I play it. Has a decent guitar solo in it too. 3/5)

Holy Smoke - And now the album speeds back up. Now the guitar solo here is great. Although it does have other good aspects the solo is what brings it to life for me. (4/5)

Bring Your Daughter To The Slaughter - This is a good song. Although it can get a little repetitive at some points. Great chorus. (4/5)

Man On The Edge - A good paced, good sounding song. Has some pretty nice guitar and some great drums too. Another great guitar solo put in too. Vocals are a little disappointing though. Sounds rather drowned out. (3.5/5)

Futureal - Great guitar, again. Drums are a little repetitive though and here the vocals seem rather rough but still good enough so they are clearly understandable. (3.5/5)

The Wicker Man - A newer Maiden classic. Everything about this song is great and the album wouldn't be the same without it. (5/5)

Fear Of The Dark (Live At Rock In Rio) - The best song on the album in my opinion and possibly Maidens greatest hit. Personally I think the live version at Rock In Rio is the best version of it. Very glad it's here. (5/5)

So overall it is a great album for a new comer to Maiden or for a long time fan. Just that the long time fan will be disappointed with some of the tracks which have been left out. Still I highly recommend you pick it up. Although I do suggest picking up Best 0f The Beast over this but it's still no mistake getting this.

Free Music Review: An acceptable Introduction To Iron Maiden
Hit: 4 Stars

I am one of Iron Maiden's most avid fans. I have all their albums including the pricey "Eddie's Archive" (Limited 1st Edition). Iron Maiden is an excellent band. Most other bands can't even dream of coming out with songs that come close to Iron Maiden's worst songs. That is how good they are. It explains why they are still in the music business for close to 24 years.
Each and every Iron Maiden album is complete on it's own. You have to listen to the entire album to actually appreciate the music. As far as I am concerned, ALL Iron Maiden songs are good-regardless of the album. Yes, I even love "Fear Of The Dark", "No Prayer For The Dying" and ALL Blaze albums. The Blaze albums had a style of their own and were excellent in their own ways. People may not agree, but I beg to differ with them.
However, the real trouble arises when you try to come up with a "Best Of" compilation with artists like Iron Maiden.
You just cannot come up with a compilation to satisfy all of the most avid fans. It is simply impossible given the range and the number of songs that you can choose from. This is where this compilation fails.
Most of the best Iron Maiden songs-the stuff that made them legendary is missing from this CD. This is the reason you see people giving this CD 2 stars or at most three. These reviewers are avid fans. All they are trying to say is that this is not a good compilation.
The first Iron Maiden CD I ever bought was "Best Of The Beast"-that too, the single CD version. I was disappointed as I really couldn't understand why some of my friends were so crazy about these guys. Then I got hold of "Infinite Dreams" in the MP3 format and I understood why. Since then, I went and bought all the albums and today, Iron Maiden's music is a very important part of my life.
This CD serves as an introduction to Iron Maiden. It has some very commercial material. You may listen to this CD and may not like the songs at all, or you might love all of them. It varies from person to person. However, if you like the songs here, I would highly recommend that you get their albums. You will love them!! The really great and powerful stuff is not here but in the albums.
As for the fans, they shouldn't bother with this CD. They have all the stuff anyway!! By the way, Iron Maiden acknowledged this fact and allowed fans to download the artwork for this CD for free when the CD came out. This really shows that Iron Maiden cares about the music and their fans-not about the money (I presume they have tons of that anyway) or the fame-at least beyond what is necessary for them.
All in all, this is an acceptable introduction to Iron Maiden at best.

Free Music Review: It's a good collection - especially if you're new to Maiden
Hit: 4 Stars

With a band that's been around for as long as Maiden has, it's almost impossible to come out with a "Best of" or a "Greatest Hits" in just one disc...or even 2 for that matter.

So with that in mind, I think they did a decent job with this. The tracks are a good representation of their music and yes, even though it's missing Di'Anno, I don't think it hurts it TOO much...after all, for all intents and purpose, Dickinson is what everyone remembers as the vocalist anyway.

As for the tracks itself, I'm happy to see Wasted Years on here. That's always been my favorite song from the Somewhere in Time album and it always annoyed me when in all their compilations all I hear from that album is Heaven Can Wait. A few good songs from 7th Son including Infinite Dreams (again, my own personal favorite) is also appreciated.

So basically, for new listeners, I think this is a good collection. For all of us fans that's stuck by them for many many years...well, do what I do and get a CD burner and make one...two...or however many "Best Of" collections you want!
