Free Music Review: A GREAT START FOR A GREAT BAND!!!
Hit: 5 Stars

Here is the album that introduced the world to Iron Maiden. They were a new band. A different band. One that dared to enter a world that was peppered with punk rockers and play a completely different style of music. They would later grow into one of the most sucessful bands in history. But in this album, they are captured only as a new band struggling to compete with the other bad boys. None of them knew what was to come.
The album kicks of with the ever popular (and catchy) Prowler, which is an absolute masterpiece in itself. The next song, Sanctuary, was not originally released with the album, but this first attempt still charted at # 4! Iron Maiden's first singer, Paul Di'anno and, of course, Steve Harris team up to create the third tune entitled Remember Tomorrow. It starts out quiet and serene, but bursts into a wild frenzy as only Iron Maiden can do. Track 4 is possibly one of Maiden's greatest songs called Running Free. It is an incredible song that displays all of Maiden's talent. The next song is the perfect, the awesome and amazingly astounding Phantom of the Opera. No words can describe the sheer power and flowing rhythm of this one. It starts out in a rather common way, but launches into a full and ecstatic whirlwind of music. Paul Di'anno is not needed for the next song because it is Transylvania, which happens to be instrumental. It focuses purely on the musical abilities of Maiden, which are demonstrated so well in this tune. Then comes a different side of Iron Maiden. A calm and quiet song named Strange World. Light taps on the cymbals and gentle fills on the drums make for a perfect background for the painstaking guitar work. Charlotte the Harlot has a touch of uniqueness, possibly because it was written by Guitarist Dave Murray. It, like Porwler, is quite catchy and a smashing piece of work. Then comes the anthem of the band and the title track. Iron Maiden is so simple, yet it doesn't compromise the song at all. In fact, Iron Maiden is still one of my favorite tunes. Iron Maiden can't be fought. Iron Maiden can't be sought. You have to listen to it. Do no hesitate to buy the only album that includes Iron Maiden's first guitarist. Get the album that came before Bruce and Nicko, when Paul Di'anno had the microphone and Clive Burr controlled the beats.
And just when you thought it couldn't get any better, guess what? It actually gets better!! If you have the capabilities to access the CD extra, you can view exclusive footage of Iron Maiden playing live at the Rainbow in London in 1981. The two clips are of Phantom of the Opera and Iron Maiden. The video from which they are taken is called Live at the Rainbow. It is very rare (I found a copy on eBay) but this CD gives you the unique opportunity to see Iron Maiden in one of their first concerts. It's to cool not to get!!

Free Music Review: OVERLOOKED HEAVY METAL CLASSIC
Hit: 5 Stars

this album brings back so much for me. it was the first iron maiden album i ever listen to, along w/ killers i got both from
a freind who copyed them on tape for me in the 8th grade, and it
was my first step into "real heavy metal" and you know what? that felt good, because every thing i hade listened to up to that point (basically metallica, ac/dc,kiss,ect,) could not
compare to the sonic assault on my ears as provided by iron maidens debut album, and what a debut! this album just has so much attidude and energy to it, it opened up my world to the really heavy metal bands that i hade not even known about up to that point, basically, britsh metal. this album instanty kicks off with prowler, a almost punk like punch in the face about a night stalker.then there is the strong and beatiful remeber tomorrow which sends chills though my spine. there is the punk meets areana rock fist pumper running free, and the hillarious charlot the harlot which just rocks the hell out of anything. i could talk about every track, but i won't because i want you to discover them for your selfs. i really want to talk about paul dianno, man, if there was ever a singer, he rules i like him so,so,so much better than bruce dickinson, not to say anything agaist bruce though because he to is extremely powerful in the vocal department,he is more opratic and epic which suited iron maidens devolpment into the mythology style of song writting they did later, but paul is rough&tumble and sings as well as shouts, he is just so raw and energetic, he is more "street". when iron maiden first came out, they were basically a street band, and such there songwritting was more realistic and down to earth such as songs about murders and stalkers and criminals and (prostitute) rather then ones about far away lands and egypt.
how come paul doesn't get more recognition? instead people like ozzy osbourne, axle rose, and steve tyler are hoggin all the fame and paul is better then all of em'he is personally my secound favriot singer of all time (udo dirkshinder is #1) it is such a shame he did not stay with maiden. paul dianno just has the best vocal delivery, he is like a criminal who just broke out of jail,he rules! this is an album that you will always love and remeber(i know i did and will) it has the best cover art ever to, its just eddie staring at you, looking at sinisterly for no apparent reason. it is ironic though that iron maiden was out to destroy punk, because this album just sounds so punk its not even funny! it is like a cross between punk rock, arena rock, and just good ol'heavy metal, its weird, but it works!this is a representation of truly groundbreaking music and example of real music, which does not exist anymore these days, to day were stuck with dog $&!t like linkin park and
lipsnot!

Free Music Review: Iron Maiden's gonna getcha, no matter how far!
Hit: 5 Stars

I remember when I got this, it was kind of at a moment's notice. However, I consider it a very lucky moment after hearing only a few seconds of this album, and listened to it all the way through the first time around. Iron Maiden is normally remembered for their Bruce Dickinson years, but if you ask me, Paul Di'anno is an excellent frontman, too. Sure, Di'anno and Dickinson may have different styles, but Di'anno's style perfectly suited Iron Maiden's early sound.
Now, if you've heard at least one Maiden album before, you're probably pretty aware of their style. Their debut, "Iron Maiden" already shows a lot of their style, in addition to a bit of a more punk-metal style.
"Prowler" opens up with two awesome guitar riffs that harmonize together as Paul kicks out a great vocal performance to add to the sound. An energetic strutter of a song, this is a great way to kick off the album.
"Sanctuary" has one of the faster, more punk-styled riffs that keeps up with the fast tempo of the song. A catchy chorus is featured here, as well.
"Remember Tomorrow" is a slower, balladic styled song with slower guitars that offer a melody as odd but interesting as the title itself. It's songs like these that influenced Metallica's ballad-styled songs like, "One" or "Fade To Black".
"Running Free": Thumping drums and a swinging bassline start this song off, which features one of the catchiest and coolest choruses on the entire album.
"Phantom of the Opera" is a very unique, epic-styled metal song that runs at over seven minutes. A very creative and well-written song, to say the least.
"Transylvania" is a great instrumental song that serves as an excellent lead into "Strange World".
"Strange World" is one of the more unusual songs the band has written. It's very cool, featuring surreal lyrics and more great instrumentals. One of Steve Harris's most underrated songs around.
"Charlotte The Harlot" features an awesome sing-a-long chorus with pounding drums, and later on in the song turns into a very emotional ballad, before shifting to a blistering guitar solo that definitely rocks.
"Iron Maiden" is the three and a half minute album closer. Combining several guitar riffs, a fast tempo, and just three verses (though the last one is marked as the chorus), it is one of the most memorable songs on the album, and yet another great part of the Iron Maiden catalogue.

Overall, "Iron Maiden" is an excellent album, and all songs are strong and well-written. I would definitely recommend this to all Maiden fans and metal fans in general, and even though there's no Bruce Dickinson or Dave Murray, this is definitely one of the greatest albums, and especially debuts, in heavy metal history. Merry Christmas to all! Thanks for the time, and peace.

Free Music Review: Their most Underrated
Hit: 5 Stars

Iron Maiden's Self-Titled Debut album is, in my opinion, their most underrated. It is up their with "Powerslave" and "Seventh Son of a Seventh Son". It is the best album that they did with Paul Di'anno.

The Album starts off with the classic "Prowler", which like on most all of the Maiden albums is the absolute Perfect opening number. The solo in this blows my mind. It is just awesome. Not my favorite on the album, but it is still very very good.

Next up is "Sanctuary", and like the opener it is well paced with awesome riffs in between. I really love this song, just as much as I love Prowler. Paul does some of his best vocals in this song.

Then comes the slower paced yet riff heavy "Remember Tommorow". I love this song just as the last two, and it is extremely different from both of them. More of a slower paced song, where Di'Anno hits some great vocals and the riffs in between, are just mind boggling.

"Running Free", the fourth song on the Album is overrated, in my opinion. I like it, just not as much as the others. I usually skip it to get to the next track...

PHANTOM OF THE OPERA! What a Song! Without a doubt, this is the best song on the whole album. The Riffs are some of the best you will ever here, and fit in so perfectly with the song, that it is almost unbelievable. This is one of my Favorite Maiden tracks, along with some Live Classics, "Fear of The Dark", "Hallowed be thy Name", "Seventh Son of a Seveth Son", and MANY MANY other songs. It just goes to show how great Iron Maiden really is.

The next track is the first of four instrumentals that Iron Maiden has done in their careers, and in my opinion it's up there with Ghengis Khan. It's a nice track that you should never skip. It's really Great.

"Strange World" is up next. I was really shocked when I first heard this song, it was almost like it was done by a completely different band. It's a slow, almost blues typr song. It has Great Lyrics, it's similar to "Remember Tommorow", and the solos are some of the best I'vce heard from Dave Murray and Iron Maiden. This is one of my favorite tracks on the whole album!

"Charlotte the Harlot" is an AWESOME song, kinda fast paced at the start then it slows down, then ends fast. Great riffs, again. This and "22 Acacia Avenue"(from the classic, "Number of the Beast") are my favorite songs in the Charlotte Saga. Which is actually really saying something, as "Hooks in You"(From the album "No Prayer for the Dying") and "From here to Eternity"(From the album "Fear of the Dark") are really great songs!

The album ends with the bands anthem, "Iron Maiden". It is a somewhat simple song, yet it ius always fun to listen to and the chorus is very addictive.

Free Music Review: Awesome Debut
Hit: 5 Stars

After years of line-up changing and a change or two in the band name, Iron Maiden went into the studio to record their debut album. Released in 1980, their self-titled debut CD started them on the road to success and legendary status as one of the pioneers of the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal.

This album has a raw edge that is not seen on their later releases (maybe No Prayer For The Dying) and that makes it all the more better. With a more punk feel than the straight-forward metal they would come to write and record, this album is a classic and a great start for the band. Guitarist Dave Murray and Dennis Stratton deliver the songs wonderfully with the usual power chords and harmonic leads. Paul Di'Anno takes his spot before the microphone and belts out all the Maiden classics. While not being as powerful as Dickinson, Di'Anno is a great singer and his vocals mix well with the music. Steve Harris, yet again, has his way of making the bass heard and plays with the intensity that he has come to be known for. Behind the drums is Clive Burr, playing simple, solid and catchy beats that suit the raw power of each song.

The album begins with Prowler which is a really catchy song with some great guitar. Di'Anno's vocals are great on this song and Burr's drumming is wonderful. Sanctuary is a faster, more guitar driven track. Its got a punk feel with great rhythm and an awesome solo. Remember Tomorrow starts off slow and develops into a rocker. The vocals are great and the guitars are superb. Simply a classic song. Running Free is another awesome song because of the feel of the song. Each of the instruments are played incredibly well and the vocals are catchy. Phantom Of The Opera is another upbeat song, like Sanctuary. The guitar is great, the the overbearing presence of the bass midway through the track is amazing and the drumming is excellent. Transylvania is a fast-paced, guitar driven instrumental. The song is excellent with fast guitars and a well played rhythm. Strange World is a step away from the sound of the rest of the album and it soft and quiet straight through. Di'Anno's vocals shine and the solo is masterful. Charlotte The Harlot is punk-type song with a love-type theme. The song is fairly fast-paced until the song slows down and the guitar is more classical with the bass popping in and out. Incredible song. The last song, Iron Maiden, is a great closing song. Awesome guitars and bass with an extremely catchy chorus.

Iron Maiden's self-titled debut started their slow rise to the top, but they didn't really get started until Bruce Dickinson joined the band. But this is definitely an incredible start. Iron Maiden fans would be pleased and fans of punk-rock may like this as well. Its definitely something to check out.
