What I like from this album is the futuristic feeling that it has.The synth guitatr and bass are just perfect for the album. The songs that sound the best with synth are Caught Somewhere In Time , The Loneliness Of The Long Distance Runner, and Deja-Vu. I wouldn't not be suprised if the title track was inspired By Back To The Future because if fits perfectly for a theme song for the movie, keep in mind the movie came out in 1985 and the album in 1986. I have a firm belief that the best guitar solos from Iron Maiden come from this album. This an Adrian Smith album and it show with his guitarwork. This also has the best album cover from Maiden. Eddie being used as a cyborg is just awesome. This is one of the band's best albums. I only rank Seveth Son and Powerslave higher than this one. This beats Piece of Mind and The Number Of The Beast from the Golden Years. This album mentions the " Golden Years" in the song Wasted Years. That pretty much sums up that it is definitely from Maiden's Golden Years.Remember this band is not dead they have another set of "Golden Years" right now with , Brave New World, Dance Of Death, and A Matter Of Life And Death . The Beast continues to live right to this very day and they will be forever in every Metalhead's heart whether you like them or not. Iron Maiden is Probably the Greatest Metal Band of All-Time. I am looking at you(Sabbath, Priest,Metallica) hell I am looking at every important Metal Band that has ever existed. No one has been able to show the constistency as these guys. That says a Music Review: Iron Maiden's last epic album, before starting a decline with Seventh SonHit: 5 Stars Like another one of your reviewers, It was kind of the cool album cover that induced me to purchase this album, but I did own the Piece Of Mind album at the time. It's just got a futuristic feel to it. I think that your reviewer Mr.Sinister from a review in late December 2005, said that he thought the song "The loneliness of the long-distance runner" was a stupid (he didn't choose those words I think) song, but I thought especially musically it was a very top notched track, and I was a long-distance runner in track and cross-country, so I thought it was cool, but I can kind of understand where Mr.Sinister's coming from anyway. This album kind of sounds poppy instead of straight ahead metal, but it still works in my opinion. Of course "Wasted Years" was a good hit for them, but I like "Sea of Madness", "Alexander the Great", "Stranger in a Strange land", and "Deja-Vu" quite a bit. I think Mr.Sinister said he thought the high point of Iron Maiden's albums was the SEVENTH SON release, but It's just starting to grow on me after all these years, but still, it's definitely not the high point, that would be PIECE OF MIND, and what a pure metal album that was. I would rank SOMEWHERE IN TIME as their second best, next to PIECE OF MIND, but still, this one is a great epic to have alongside PIECE OF MIND. Now that Adrian Smith is back with them, why do they need a third guitarist? You don't really need three guitars do you? I think for someone who is new to Iron Maiden, this would be the perfect place to start. Then, you might give PIECE OF MIND a whirl. Iron Maiden at their peak is just about as good as metal gets. ENJOY!!! Free Music Review: My Personal favorite album from Iron Maiden
Somewhere in Time is my favorite album from the best band to ever come out of England. This was a very hard choice to make as Powerslave, Brave New World, and Seventh Son of a Seventh Son came very close. Iron Maiden have amazed me with their incredible talent and ability to use different elements in their music. Bruce Dickenson has a great vocal range, and it shows on this album.
