Free Music Notes for A Deeper Level

Free Music Review: Do you want to go deeper?
Hit: 5 Stars

"A Deeper Level" is just that. The thing I like about this album is the diversity of music styles, from CCM to reggae or reggaeton, to pure worship. Because Israel and NB fasted 40 days before recording this album, the result is evident in the music and prayers. How powerful. All artists' cannot pull that off, but Israel and New Breed did a good job. My favorites include: "Prayer of the Righteous," "Say So," "Identity," "I Know Who I Am," "I Will Search," "If Not for Your Grace," "Deeper," and "Overcome."

I like the lyrics to "Prayer of the Righteous." In a synopsis, it states that the prayers of the righteous availeth much. Towards the end, maybe the vamp or hook of the song, Israel and NB sings that "We are victorious/ We are/ We are" and say to God that "You are miraculous/ You are/ You are." The song begins softly and prayer-like, but definitely builds and climaxes into the chant of being victorious. "Identity" has an African or Caribbean feel; it's a fun, simple song.

The song "I Know Who I Am" says that "I know who I am/ I know who I am/ I know who I am/ I am yours, I am yours/ And you are mine/ Jesus You are mine." It's another fun, easy song. I like the CCM feel of "I Will Search." "If Not for your Grace" poses a familiar phrase, but written poetically "where would I be if not for your grace?" The song goes on to mention things that grace does, and features a melodic line or two from the hymn "Where Would I Be." By the end, your head will be nodding, but you will feel empowered. I also really like the lyrics to "Deeper, which has a CCM feel too." The vamp petitions God and states "God give us a heart/ Give us a heart/ Give us your heart/ Deep cries out to deep/ God give us a heart/ Give us a heart/ Give us your heart/ For the least of these." What a request! God give me your heart.

Great job Israel and New Breed.

Free Music Review: A fruit salad of His goodness
Hit: 5 Stars

This is truly Israel and New Breed's most diverse and unique, live album that has been created thus far. The main reason why I say it's unique because usually their album starts off with an upbeat song. However, this album jumps right into prayer and worship to take you into a deeper level in Christ on the song "So Come".

Now the reason why I say it's the most diverse because of the diversity of genre on this album. It's like a fruit salad of His goodness. They have a song that takes you over to the Latin/Hispanic community in the song called "Long Life" with T-Bone. Then they take you over to Africa in the song called "Identity". Then flows you into the CCM genre that's more popular in the white community in the song "I Know Who I Am", which is interestingly enough happens to be my favorite song on the album. It's interesting because I'm black and I usually only buy black gospel music. After hearing that song it makes me want to go buy a CCM album that I may have liked but never would buy. Well anyway, they eventually take us into the African-American community on the song "Surely Surely" which kind of has a hip hop, jazzy sound to it that exhorts you to praise/shout that God surely is Holy and as a result to help to tear down the walls of ungodliness, depression, and affliction but done with love.

So I would say this album is definitely worth buying because it's a very timely album, it's good for building bridges with other cultures, and it can help take you to a deeper level in Christ.

Free Music Review: Another Anointed CD by Israel & New Breed
Hit: 5 Stars

Anyone who has heard any CD by Israel & New Breed knows that they carry a special anointing for live performances. This CD is additional evidence of that. It starts out by welcoming the presence of God into the time of worship and reminding Him that we know who He is. I say "we" because when I listen to this CD, I feel like I was there with them at the concert. It is "that" anointed! The next few tracks remind us not only of who God is, but of who WE are in Him. I don't know about you, but when I think of my human tendencies, I need to be reminded that God still thinks I'm special, that He loves me and that I can come to Him as I am. Thank goodness. Tracks like "I know who I am", "Surely Surely", "With Long Life", and "Identity" leave no doubt as to who YOU are in Christ Jesus. The CD ends with the beautiful acoustic-sounding song "You are not forgotten". Though the titles may be similar to songs done before, the song is different.

While the CD is very anointed, it still displays the talent of Israel & New Breed, as well as guest artistes Darlene Zschech, Jonny Lang, YPJ, T-Bone, and others.

I must admit, though, that while this CD is great, my fave is still "Live in South Africa". This one comes in second, though. I highly recommend it! I especially recommend it to anyone who has had an abortion, anyone who questions their gender assignment, and others who suffer from guilt about their past acts ... Israel speaks specifically to these things in "Surely Surely (Speaking)".

Free Music Review: For TRUE WORSHIPPERS who are ready to worship in spirit and truth
Hit: 5 Stars

From the first track I was drawn in...just from Israel's declarations...all it took was one mention of scripture "the plow man will overtake the reaper" ...and it hit a spot that I didn't know was in need of watering. This cd has literally changed my life. It speaks to the broken places...even the ones you didn't know were broken until you listened to the songs. My absolute favorite is "Prayers of the Righteous"...particularly the end of the song that declares that God is miraculous...when I'm driving I literally look up into the sky and declare this to the Lord!!! And I absolutely adore "I Know Who I Am"!!! I love Chris Tomlin. And I cannot forget "I Will Search"...this was the first song on the cd that drew me in! "With Long Life" reminds me that death and life are in the power of the tongue...and "Say So" is definitely a jump up and down declaration powerhouse of a song! And, finally, I love the last track "You Are Not Forgotten"...especially the tribute to the tune from Bonnie DeBarge's "A Dream" (widely known from Tupac Shakur's "I Ain't Mad Atcha"). This cd is VERY encouraging and is great for those who are definitely trying to make it to another dimension in God. It has some traditional praise and worship, but is definitely a more mature approach to praise and worship...it is soooo evident that they followed the leading of the spirit when making this. I heard they fasted before coming together to do this project, and it definitely shows!

Free Music Review: A New Sound of Worship
Hit: 5 Stars

I have to say at the outset that I always anticipate Israel and New Breed's projects because they have such a uniquely powerful and pure sound of worship. I was, however, wonderfully surprised to hear a truly distinct sound on this album, especially in light of the dynamic Alive in South Africa project. When you listen to this project, I don't mean to sound cliche-ish, but please expect to be challenged to go a deeper level with the Lord--for real. It is obvious to me that everyone who took part in the composition of this project underwent a radical transformation from the last album. I must stress the different SOUND that emanates from this album. I am not really referring to the wonderfully diverse musical and vocal arrangements or lyrics. But beyond all of that (and all of those things are great on this album, as is befitting a New Breed project!), there is a sound that comes out of these folks that, I feel, lets us know that if we choose not to change then we will never really experience that full life that the Lord Jesus died to give us. This comes through in a powerful way through every song, instrumental, and speaking moment on this album. Please invest in your inner man and support this dynamic, timely ministry. I'm never disappointed with New Breed, and I'm sure that you won't be either. Join the movement! :)
