Free Music Review: A Third Wonderful Christmas Release

Michael W. Smith has released two previous Christmas CDs, and they are staples of my December. This new release will be taking an honored place beside them in my December rotation.
This release is a combination of his two previous releases. It mixes the choral feeling of the first one with the pop of the second one. And, as something new, he mixes in lots of instrumental pieces. 5 of the 11 songs are fully instrumental. But the orchestra sounds wonderful.
What is truly amazing is that this release sounds Christmassy from start to finish from the very first listen. Only one track, "What Child is This" is a traditional piece. Michael wrote or co-wrote everything else. Yet everything feels like an old familiar friend.
Some of the instrumental tracks sound like the soundtrack to a movie. And one feels like a missing piece from the Nutcracker.
Of the other songs, most focus on the birth of Christ. They are wonderful choir pieces. "Christmas Day" focuses on our modern Christmas celebration, and it brings a smile to my face as I think about all the traditions. Finally, the disc closes with "All Year Long," a quiet song that wishes us the happiness of Christmas the rest of the year.
This is a great release. Buy it and enjoy it for Christmases to come.
Free Music Review: A masterpiece of unbelievable proportions. Breathtaking!!!

As a Michael W. Smith fan, I am always interested to see what his latest album will bring, as each one evolves into a better masterpiece than the last. This album was no exception. Recorded in Abbey Road Studios, this album includes a 60 piece orchestra and at least 4 different choirs.
Almost all songs are original Michael W. Smith songs. Half of the album is instrumental, and each arrangement is breath-taking. I can honestly say, that in listening to it the first time, I was choked up from the amazing, complex orchestrations Smith wrote for this album.
"Christmas Day" featuring Mandisa (of American Idol fame) does not disappoint. The vocals are joyful and the lyrics are catchy. This song is sure to become a Christmas staple as years go by.
This album is truly a masterpiece and is deserving of the highest praise. It is an album that was constructed with care and love. The talent exuded is unbelievable. Whether you are a Michael W. Smith fan or not, this is definitely an album that will be your favorite for years to come.

"IT'S A WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS" CD is...well...it's a wonderful Christmas CD.
11 powerful songs all written by Michael W. Smith, with one exception; which is a traditional carol arranged by MWS. And I really liked this arrangement with him at piano and teamed with Skip Cleavinger on the pennywhistle giving it a Celtic flavor.
A second song, #6 "A Highland Carol", also had the pennywhistle AND HIGHLAND BAGPIPES, that makes that song 'out of this world' when the volume is cranked.
This CD set is Orchestra, Choirs, and vocalists. Some solos, 5 instrumentals, and vocal groups. Everything needed for a worshipful, big sound but reverend feel of Christmas. It's delightful. Like spiced cranberry cider, hot, in the mug. By candlelight.
Did I mention the bagpipes and pennywhistle?
Not new at this review time--but then the music is timeless. You'll play it often, and for years to come. Cheap enough for stocking stuffing.
Free Music Review: Original Christmas selections capture the spirit of the season

I am amazed at any artist that can compose music from scratch and yet somehow attain the beautiful sound of the season. Michael W Smith has definitely accomplished this in his latest album, It's a Wonderful Christmas.
This CD is composed of a selection of all new original songs for the season, written almost entirely by MWS himself. Every song is beautifully composed and reminds us why Christmas is one of the best times of the year.
I recommend this product without any reservations. If you like listening to Christmas music and are not afraid to try something new, this is an excellent selection!

This is not a formal review that I have pondered over. I just needed to let people out there know how special this CD is. It has touched me deeply and has brought so much joy to me this Christmas season. It is truly a beautiful musical work. I just can't say enough about it. If you appreciate beautiful orchestral and instrumental Christmas music you will not be disappointed. I bought it for my sister, my pastor and friends.
You can't go wrong with this one. Without it you will have missed the best release of the season. When the angels are singing in heaven they sound close to this.
