Free Music Notes for Italian Opera Arias [Includes DVD]Free Music Review: Impressive Hit: 4 Stars
I found the singing very impressive, but not as strong as other female vocalists, time will improve the overall tone.
Free Music Review: No, not the greatest singer ever... Hit: 2 Stars
This recording just supports what I've always felt about Dessay's voice. A shallow, underfed, milky, white sound with no special ingredient to make the voice instantly recognizable LIKE the greats: Sills, Price, Tebaldi, Callas, Nilsson, Freni, Sutherland, Ponselle, on on on. It all sounds so darn cautious.
Mlle. Dessay is that dreaded present opera phenomenon: Spectacularly over-hyped (slim pretty figure, elegant gowns) by a team of sleazy managers and agents who shall remain nameless, and gone tomorrow. Don't waste your money. The conducting also reveals some very strange tempi (IE slow).
Free Music Review: Open Disc CDs Hit: 1 Stars
I had to go to a web site called Open Disc to get a code to enable me to play this CD along with the others I received as a gift. I was told that the code had transpired.
I will never buy this label again. I returned them.
