Free Music Notes for Long DistanceFree Music Review: Ivy is definitely going the distance! Hit: 5 Stars
I thought Apartment Life was a masterpiece and would be difficult to follow, but this one scores big. Fountain of Wayne's critical success scared me into believing that Ivy would not be the same. But you know what, they are and they're better. I am still trying to find something wrong with this CD and I can't. There is a bit more keyboards throughout the entire CD but it stays within Ivy's style. Great ear candy and some danceable tunes as well. What more do you want? Long Distance goes the distance with me!
Free Music Review: Trippy, Spacious and Inviting Hit: 5 Stars
If you've read the reviews, you know that this is a helluva CD. I had never heard of this group or it's French singer until someone gave me an MP3 transfer. In spite of the curtailed frequency response and other liabilities of MP3's, the emotional power and range comes through. The driving bottom end and mellow, languid singing reminds me of Massive Attack's Blue Lines CD. If you're not familiar with that CD, don't worry. Run, don't walk, and pick up a copy of this CD. You wont be disappointed.
Free Music Review: A Shimmery Delight Hit: 5 Stars
I first heard of Ivy from the Roswell Soundtrack, quickly downloaded the song "Edge of the Ocean," than fell in love with Ivy. I hurried to the store to buy their whole album and fell even more in love with their music. It is a great departure from today's loud banging so called music and I love it. All the songs are awesome, my favs being "Edge of the Ocean," "Lucy Doesn't Love You," and "Disappointed." Go buy this album and you surely won't be disappointed.
Free Music Review: Glorious Pop Pleasure Hit: 5 Stars
I've enjoyed this CD more than any I've bought in years. Each track is instantly memorable, with sonic goodies that make repeated listenings even more enjoyable. I liked Fountains of Wayne's "Utopia Parkway" (Adam Schlesinger's other band), but I think this one will hold up even better. (Go for FOW if you prefer goofiness to urban romance; I like both.) Every time I hear this CD I want to spread the word. Long live guitar-based pop! Please buy this CD--you won't be disappointed!
