Free Music Notes for Pink PearlFree Music Review: Jill strikes Gold with Pink Pearl Hit: 5 Stars
Jill Sobule follows her third album "Happy Town" with a fun, intense, happier sound on "Pink Pearl". Songs that touch on issues of Bulemia, first love, and people's imperfections that they find within themselves. Jill's real talent (aside from being an amazing songwriter and lyricist) is to write music about real people and issues that the masses are dealing with. Bravo for having the guts to do that Jill!
Free Music Review: Better and Better Hit: 5 Stars
Until I heard her work I thought Jill Sobule was just another one of the blonde bimbo, ala Jewel types. Boy, was I wrong! She's musically talented, lyrically witty, and socially pithy. She's a songwriter that can give Elvis Costello (brillant as he is) a run for his money. You'll never get tired of listening to this or any of her works. There's always another level in the music and lyrics to discover!
Free Music Review: Simply Amazing Hit: 5 Stars
She has a way of combining tongue-in-cheek with true feelings. Mexican Wrestler defines every "not-so-perfect" girl's dependence on unabtainable acceptance from someone she's placed on a pedistal. Rainy Day Parade could be sung on the musical stage of life. The truth in her music is made easier to take with her creative and witty lyrics. This is a must have in your collection.
Free Music Review: jill for sainthood Hit: 5 Stars
This is a fantastic disc. Some of the smartest, most heartbreaking songs in recent memory. If you like intelligent, great sounding pop you will love this one. Producer Brad Jones has helped create this collection of soundscapes, each a short story with incredible lyrics. And if you get a chance to see Jill live, jump at it. She deserves a much wider audience.
Free Music Review: This is another great album Hit: 5 Stars
Jill Sobule is without a doubt one of the most creative, thoughtful and talented songwriters around today. This album, like my other favorite, self-titled Jill Sobule album, is full of insightful, funny, and at times, uncomfortable lyrics and music. Jill Sobule never ceases to amaze me. I highly recommend this album.
