Free Music Notes for ChristmasFree Music Review: Destined to be Played Year After Year Hit: 4 Stars
I have this habit with Christmas music. I buy lots of CD's from artists I don't listen to all the time. Usually, my favorite artists put out my favorite CD's, but occasionally, I find a gem from other artists. This CD is a case in point. Here, Jaci sings wonderful arrangements of Christmas songs that bring pictures of trees, presents, snow, friends, and warm fires year round. Stand outs include "O Come, O Come Emmanuel," "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," "The Christmas Song," and "Feliz Navidad." So, why the four star rating? Because, much as I do enjoy it, it still has a couple minor flaws. Most notably, there is very little tempo change over the course of the album. The arrangements here are slow. While that's not a problem by itself, I find I enjoy albums with greater variety more. The tempo picks up for a few tracks in the second half, but it's not enough. Also, the three new songs just don't excite me. In spite of these minor flaws, I know I'll enjoy this album for years to come. I recommend it to anyone looking for good, classic sounding Christmas music. You'll be lost in Christmas Past in no time.
Free Music Review: Jaci comes through again! Hit: 4 Stars
I have been a fan for Jaci Velasquez for the past eight years and enjoy hearing her voice in both languages. I do not speak Spanish but enjoy her artistic abilities none the less. This album lived up to the Velasquez name in my book- My family and I only really enjoy the traditional sounding Christmas carols and tend to not enjoy the revised versions. Jaci's album not only made sure the carols were sung traditionally but she has given us a gift a couple new songs that will be added to my Christmas traditions! Overall I LOVE this album and the only reason I did not give it a full five stars was that I am done with that Chipmunk Song. Sorry everybody.
Free Music Review: big band classics are back! Hit: 4 Stars
jaci, as stated in a personal interview, was trying to capture the 'big band' sound of classical christmas greats like bing crosby and andy williams. in my estimation, she succeeded, and then some.
her vocals are full of richness and depth, her musical backgrounds ring with christmas cheer, and her involvement of the chipmunks inspired.
i highly recommend this christmas album to anyone who loves good christmas music.
