Free Music Notes for Seven Moons

Free Music Review: trower/bruce disappoint
Hit: 1 Stars

I am a lifelong Trower fan and this album is a huge disappointment. It sounds like a collection of bad jack bruce demos with Trower noodling in the background. They cut every corner in production. A real shame from two legends.

Even BLT was better than this. Robin, It's been a long time crossing the bridge to Jack Bruce...

Free Music Review: Long Overdue.........
Hit: 4 Stars

This is a long overdue offering from Robin Trower with Jack Bruce. I hesitated buying this one because the previous offerings from this partnership seemed in some ways, at least, a war of styles and barring a few exceptions, never really fully gelled. When they hit something that worked, it worked very well, but that was few and far between. This, however, is an exceptional work of retro sounds but with enough modern nuances to make it unique. You can tell RT is RT and JB is JB, but this time around they got it right. A very listenable CD. Long time fans will be pleased. I doubt it will win any new fans but, then, that is their loss. It's not a landmark offering like Bridge of Sighs but it is well worth the purchase. Some have been critical saying it's predictable but they would probobly be equally as critical if it strayed any further from it's signature sound foundation than it does. It's your money, do as you want, but if you don't check this you lose out.

Free Music Review: This album was mistitled!
Hit: 2 Stars

It should have been called "Lather, Rinse, Repeat."

Believe me, I like Robin Trower and have a lot of respect for Jack Bruce, who provides the only interesting influence here.

But with Trower, all you really need is "Bridge of Sighs." He is that predictable. That's the problem with musicians who possess such an identifiable sound - without an artistic vision to animate the sound, a listener is confronted with the same thing over and over: lather, rinse, repeat.

The drummer is average.

Save your dough.

Free Music Review: Zowie!!
Hit: 5 Stars

This is one motherfurrier of an album! I'll admit it, I'm biased.I've been a fan of these guys for decades; Trower since the Procol days, Bruce since his days with those two other English mugs. While I can't add anything to what the other reviewers have said, I will try to convey my enthusiasm for Seven Moons. I'm a fan of their previous collaborations, however, this one puts those two to shame. The playing on this CD is collaborative, sublime and inspired. The writing is intelligent and Bruce's singing is superb. There is no sideman, these guys function as a tight, swinging unit. Now, if only these guys would tour. Good God!

Free Music Review: Buy without fear
Hit: 5 Stars

Bruce and Trower's previous collaboration didn't blow me away, a somewhat aenemic show for two legends. But this, ah, this is a gem. Too often an album looses impetus towards the end with all the good stuff up front- not here, there ain't no bad song here.Bruce sounds better than on any Cream album (according to my humble ears), he nails each song, impressing the crap out of me, the feeling, the timbre of his voice... These are damn good vocals. Trowers, who has evolved his own style (comparisons to Hendrix have grown a bit passe), plinks away on the strings admirably, bringing joy to jaded ears, medicine to ears bombarded by Top 40 doody every day. The bass may be a tad understated at times, but it's there, oh, yes, m'dear, don't let this scare you away. Every song is good and every lover of good music: buy it! The trio attains a one-ness, a cohesiveness, found/heard on albums like Revolver by The Beatles, or 'The Black Album' by Metallica. Buy this, you won't be disappointed.
