Free Music Notes for Seven Moons

Free Music Review: sevsn moons critique
Hit: 3 Stars

Interesting reunion of two veteran artists with a good blend of rock and blues.Classic Trower licks and strong song writing from Jack Bruce (reverting back to his older styles). Nothing mind blowing but solid music nonetheless more an album for die hard fans.I am glad these guys keep collaborating over the years because the results are always satisfying.

Free Music Review: give it several listens
Hit: 3 Stars

The CD did not impress me the first time I played it, in fact I was a bit disappointed. Jack Bruce is an exceptional vocalist, and the songs just didn't seem to do justice to his talent. Maybe it was the fact the lyrics seemed a bit contrived. I didn't give up however, and after more listening, several of the tunes grew on me. There are no classics here and both Jack and Robin have done better things before, but they are two talented musicians and deserve a listen to their current project.

Free Music Review: Psychedelic blues rock re-born
Hit: 5 Stars

I'm a 51 yr/ old Bassist / vocalist and a lifetime fan of both Bruce and Trower, yet not a fan of much of their previous work together. I bought this CD w/ high hopes and I was rewarded. This is the finest psychedelic rock album since either Bridge of Sighs or Disraeli Gears. The intuitive drumming of Gary Husband ties it all together magically. If you miss the great writing, playing, and singing of the late 60's and early 70's that is rarely represented w/ intelligence and passion today then buy this CD. Especially, if like me, you want to support real music rather than the steady stream of noise pollution the industry calls music coming out of your radio and TV these days. This is really fine stuff here.

Free Music Review: Fresh and happening 60s style blues-rock!
Hit: 5 Stars

I am a guitar player in my 50s, and much of what I learned when I was learning to play guitar I got from Cream and Hendrix. I liked Trower's solo material from the 70s, but he was obviously really influenced by Hendrix-- arguably a bit too much.

I have listened to this album three or four times and it is growing on me on each listening. It's a basic, bluesy rock type of thing, recorded mainly live in the studio with minimal overdubbing. It's just really great 60s style blues rock that manages to sound very current. Trower is obviously still very influenced by Hendrix, but has really developed his own voice to a much larger extent. Jack Bruce's bass playing is great as you would expect, his voice is very strong, and the songs are pretty cool. Very solid drumming, great recording; just really great all around.

The 30 second clips that are given here do little justice to this album, particularly if you want to hear much in the way of guitar solos. Trust me, Trower gets plenty of space to solo, and he really lets it rip. The sound of Strat is really present; stinging, biting tone.

Popular music being what it is these days, this album is a real breath of fresh air. If you are a Cream/Hendrix/Trower fan, pick up on this one-- you won't be disappointed!

Free Music Review: Memories of Cream
Hit: 4 Stars

This reminds me in many respects of some of Cream's better and bluesier moments. I really liked the BBM album Jack and Ginger did with Garry Moore a few years ago but this is much much better. Wonder how it might have sounded with G Baker drumming. Guess we'll never know. Highly recommended anyway. Robin Trower is, as always, playing great.
