Free Music Notes for NewsiesFree Music Review: A fine CD, and someone at Disney was right to reissue it! Hit: 5 Stars
"Sometimes all it takes is one voice, and that voice becomes a hundred, and then a thousand." These words were spoken in the film "Newsies," a musical that debuted in 1992 and slowly sank from sight. What didn't sink from sight were the sounds eminating from the speakers that I had heard. My dad and I saw this one night, and that summer we found the soundtrack, and for many summers after that Newsies continued to play on our car stereo as we went many places. The songs are catchy, and have an incredible range of feeling and motion to them. Here's an analysis of the music: Prologue-a short summary of what the film was about, with an underscore of the main theme. Carryin the Banner-the 7 minute smash that made the film one to watch! You have 3-part harmony in part of it, and everything that could possibly jumble into mush comes out as an incredible fanfare! Santa Fe-A song of longing sung by Jack Kelly (aka Christian Bale) about his longing to be like all the optimists and travel West. My Lovey-Dovey Baby-a rhater slow and sweet song that has a bit of sexy appeal, sung by Ann Margaret (this song is extended from what was heard in the film) Fightin' Irish: Strike Action- A major turn by the Newsboys summons the cops, but the music shows their determination with a nice Irish flair. The World Will Know-Finally, Jack Kelly decides to take charge against the unfair wages that the Newsboys must contend with, and the song is filled with incredible determination. Escape from Snyder-An entirely instrumental piece about an escape from a rather "evil fellow" from Jack's past. Seize the Day- Short but sweet fight song about triumphing over evil. King of New York- A song that chronicles the kids' thoughts after they make the front-page of a paper with their Strike-related material! High Times, Hard Times- Another song sung by Ann Margaret, doesn't really do much for teh soundtrack, probably weak at times but still interesting. Seize the Day (Chorale)- nice vocals, that turns into a short reprisal. Santa Fe (Reprise)- another short thought as Jack continues to wonder about his dreams. Rooftop- An instrumental piece as Jack meets with the sister of one of his friends, and they discuss about life and all from the rooftops of New York. Once and for All- The final blow has been dealt, and now action is being taken, almost as defiant as The World will Know. The World Will Know (Preprise)- short but sweet, with a huge choral ending! Carrying the Banner (Finale)- Starts low, but builds to a high point that ends with an incredible orchestra and blair of Trumpets.

Free Music Review: My favorite soundtrack Hit: 5 Stars
I'm one of the relatively small number of people who actually saw Newsies in the movie theater several years ago. The entire audience was moved to tears and cheers as we watched this delightful film. When the movie was over, everyone in the theater stood up and offered a standing ovation. When was the last time you saw that after a movie?!?!
Newsies quickly became and has remained our family's favorite movie ever. I love it, my wife loves it, and our kids love it.
An irreplaceable part of what makes this movie great is the music. As with all great musicals, the Newsies soundtrack is stirring and infectious and delivers messages that are not only fundamental to the storyline but also offer something we can all relate to in our own lives.
We bought the Newsies soundtrack when it was initially released as the movie played in theaters. The movie didn't doo too well at the box office, and they quickly stopped producing the soundtrack. A few years later, I saw used copies of the Newsies soundtrack selling for $60 on the internet. (We weren't about to sell our copy no matter how high those prices went!) Finally in 2001 they got wise and resumed manufacturing the soundtrack to put it back on the market, and you can buy it today for a reasonable price.
Interestingly enough, the popularity of this movie has steadily grown over the years. While most people who have seen Newsies have watched it at home on the DVD or VCR, it is a veritable fact that most who have seen it think it's a really, really, really good movie. For some reason, musicals just don't do as well in the box office these days, but I'd rate the quality of this film, and its accompanying soundtrack, to be on par with any other musical I've ever seen. It's simply fantastic.
Free Music Review: How Newsies Changed My Life Hit: 5 Stars
I firest saw the movie Newsies in the 5th grade. Our teacher had been showing it since it had come out on vidio. The whole class loved it, and we couldn't talk about another thing for days. When I was in the 6th grade I wanted to try my hand at singing, which I had bee inspired to do from the movie, but really didn't turn out to be that grate at it. When I had requested the movie for my birthday, and then reseved it I was thriled. I learned from the movie, even acted it out with my friends, and then learned better how to sing, just by watching them on the movie. In the 7th grade I was still alittle shy and was nervuse about singing in frount of others, but like most kids go throgh wanted to be a big star. Then I gotthe chance to sing in a group in frount of a judge, and get this we were going to sing "Seize the Day". I was beside myself, and new that I just had to start singing leasons. Well I did, and we as a group got a a grate score. And now I am going into the 9th grade and still watch the movie, and still know every line. And thanks to the Newsies I love to sing, and still am singing, not to be a big star any moer, but because I have learned that music can take you to a world where you can forget everything that is going wrong in you life and juswt sit back and let the music touch your soul, and that is the leason I learned from the Newsies, and that is why they changed my life.
Free Music Review: yay! Hit: 5 Stars
ok, so i didn't see "newsies" until i was fifteen, and i was totally shocked: WHY hadn't my musical-loving friends and i seen this before?? sure, after you see it two or three times it gets sappy and a leetle slow, (and you want to throw sarah off a cliff, but she only sings five words on the soundtrack, so you don't have to worry about that) but the music doesn't get old. they're all fun songs, and what high school girls don't want a copy to play on the way to school, so they can sing "carrying the banner" at the top of their lungs in defiance to the educational system????(ok so private school isn't exaclty the streets of new york, but we're oppressed too! have you SEEN those skirt-things we wear for uniforms?) i was so so happy when they re-released it; I sure didn't want to spend three hundred dollars for it on e-bay. It's a fun cd with all the good songs from the movie on it, and some of the dumb ones, (you'll want to fast-forward through the rooftop serenade played behind the jack-sarah morning scene)if you liked the spirit of the movie (boys singing in knickerbockers) but not the dumb parts, buy the soundtrack!
