Free Music Review: Fantastic and educational

Newsies is one of the best movies and CD's I know of for older elementary aged children. It is about the youth labor movement and how the newsboys of New York City organized against the massive newspaper publishing machine and won. It is inspirational, funny, filled with great characters and teaches kids a huge history lesson without their ever knowing it. Not to mention, it is one of the few films I have ever seen with a nearly all boy cast who can all dance and it stars Christian Bale. I teach 4th grade and every year when we are studying child labor laws, I use this film and the accompanying CD. It is always an all time favorite.Free Music Review: GO BUY IT NOW!!!

Undoubtedly one of the best musicals of the 90's but sadly underpublicized, the soundtrack is another wonderful creation from Jack Feldman, Alan Menken, and J.C. Redford. The songs are unbelievably inspiring, with early morning song "Carrying the Banner" and a beautifully sung, a capella "Seize the Day (Chorale)". However, it sadly lacks any Disney love songs (which are THE BEST there is), but as the plot doesn't revolve around a love story, it's excusable. Anyhow, the wonderful songs from "Newsies" will galvanize you into action, even at five in the morning. Look at it the longterm benefits: you'll be saving a LOT of coffee money.Free Music Review: UPLIFTING AND FUN!

Even though I bought this cd 5 years ago, it is still one of my favourites! The Newsies soundtrack is so uplifting and so much fun that even if i am in a very bad mood, I can pop in this cd and right away want to jump up and dance along! Songs like "Seize the Day" and "Carrying the Banner" always manage to make me sing along and wish that I had lived as a Newsie at the end of the 19th century. But probably the best song on the cd, "The World Will Know" lets you know that anyone can change the world. This is a must-have for any true fan, and a fun cd even for someone that hasn't seen the movie yet!Free Music Review: NEWSIES is the bomb

understandably, Newsies is a brilliant musical. Not a bad plot (b/c musicals, as we know, aren't known for plots) but the music and dancing is infectious. The best songs are:1. Carrying the Banner--the classic movie song. Great tunes, harmony, the lyrics are funny and the NY accents and dancing are even more funny.
2. Santa Fe-nice solo, good tune, doesn't do much for the movie but still a great song
3. Seize the Day reprise-I like the reprise better, it's shorter and I loooove the caribbean steel drums here
4. the world will know--a good yell-n-fight song
5. king of new york-Brilliant! So much fun to sing and dance to.

This is , personally one of my faves. First I didn't think I would like it so much, but when I gave it a chance, it became 1 of my favrite movies. It has really cool dancing songs, and its hilarious. The Newsies are a group of kids(some orphans) who sell newspapers in New York in the early 1900's. They decide to go on strike because the price for the newpapers get raised. This affects the Newsies because they have to pay for their own papes. They never give up, and they stick together through all the tough times they go through. All the actors are great. This is a great movies, I reccommend it for any age.
