Jack Johnson's newest release is from the vein of Brushfire Fairytales, but can still please any listener, old and new. JJ has developed a formula for his writing, and if it isn't broke then don't fix it. Cookie Jar shows violence from our youth as a result of the media in Cookie Jar, singing "you can't blame me says the media man/i wasn't the one who came up with the plan/i just point that camera at what the people want to see/it's a two way mirror and you can't blame me". Dreams be dreams is nice ballad stating "her dreams are dreams/all this living is so much harder than it seems/but girl don't let your dreams be dreams". Holes To Heaven, familiar to fans as Stars off the Brushfire Fairytales demo cd, has a driving bass/vocal melody that will make it an instant favorite, at least for me it was. It reminds me of Pulp's song Mile End which I know of only as being off the Trainspotting Soundtrack. Overall this cd is absolutley fantastic. Songs like Taylor, Tommorrow Morning, Gone, and Rodeo Clowns all offer an easily catchy sound that is owned by JJ. On and On, along with Brushfire Fairytales are 2 great offering from JJ that noone should pass up.
