I found my way to this album under the assumption that Jack Johnson was about to blow me away again with yet another dreamland experience packaged in a compact disc. I should have done my homework.
Here is what I discovered: If you're the John Mayer, pop-culture hungry aficionado, then you might want to pass on this album. Not to discount Mayer and his fans, but this CD isn't songs of love and breathtaking vocals. Rather, it is an instrumental and experimental collection of sounds that is wonderfully mastered by the creativity of Jack Johnson.
I'm not here to say the CD isn't worth buying. In fact, I highly suggest you do check it out even if you are the Mayer fan I referred to before. The first time you listen, you are going to wonder what the heck you just bought. But before long you are mysteriously addicted. Great stuff.

Free Music Review: therapy for mid-winter doldrums in frigid northeast

Received the CD for Christmas and on first listen thought it was kind of interesting in spots. Then played it again, and again, and again, and again. It's one of the few CDs I can let go round and round three or four times and feel a different response each time. It's great work music. It's great space out and daydream music. I'm eager to see the DVD and hear the other stuff not included in the audio version.
