Free Music Notes for Solo Acoustic, Vol. 1

Free Music Review: Jackson Browne fan from the 70's
Hit: 5 Stars

An acoustic album was a great idea for Jackson to do. As soon as I heard he put one out, I decided to buy it - no hesitation. My reasoning being that over the years I've traveled to places like Maine & the Florida Keys & the restaurant where I'm having dinner has a local guitar player who takes requests & I've discovered that they know some of his songs. It was always enjoyable hearing his songs in these settings. So then what could be better than hearing the man himself doing it acoustically. A great album!

The Solo Acoustic vol. 1 cd makes me anxious for vol.2. Delightful low key venue and great acoustic versions.

Free Music Review: Music for the ages
Hit: 5 Stars

I continue to be thankful for the talent we baby boomers were blessed with in our youth. The fact that most of that talent is still relevent and entertaining (let alone can still carry a tune) amazes me.
After the unbelievable McCartney Chaos & Creation CD, Jackson Browne also renews my belief in the talent of our generation with this recording.
I felt like I was there in the performance hall sitting with old friends sharing the music of our time.
Highly recommended for music lovers of all ages - the young might learn a thing or two listening to Solo Acoustic, Vol. 1.

Free Music Review: Or Maybe 4-1/2 Stars. . .
Hit: 4 Stars

Thank goodness that Jackson Browne released this album.

This live collection documents his extensive career of solo touring (though, strangely, the recording dates are not noted). The release followed his election to the Rock and Roll HOF and the issue of a 2 CD retrospective. It showcases his songcraft and celebrates his body of work. It's a pleasure to hear these songs stripped down and presented so intimately. Browne's guitar, piano, and vocals round out songs that lack familiar contributions of their recorded versions.

Browne's voice is strong and retains fine range, though he wisely backs down from a few parts that would probably be tough to reach at this stage in his life. His banter with the audience is funny and intimate--and it perfectly captures the spirit of the tour. Each rap (some are really short) has it's own track on the disc, so you can program around or jump ahead if you don't want to hear (or get tired of) it.

Free Music Review: In The Shape of A Heart
Hit: 5 Stars

This is the live recording I was waiting all these years for! The songs stripped to their core. I have a version with an extra track. I, too can't believe the idiots who never knew what politics Mr. Browne has been involved with....... not with FoxNews or Rush Limberger(obvious, misspell). He is a singer for the displaced and folks who have been left behind by the compassionate conservatives. Also for folks who have endured heartbreak in all forms. I hope a DVD will follow! This is one of his best, right up there with The Pretender and Late For the Sky. Very immediate and personal re-interpretaions of some of his best songs.
