Free Music Review: I think some people are missing the point....

As I have read many of the reviews, I have found that many of the people who purchased this item weren't pleased with the complilation. Unfortunately, they must not have gone to Jackson Browne's website where it states "in 2004 The Very Best of Jackson Browne was released, featuring 32 songs that span his entire career. While by no means comprehensive, the collection of songs is a testament to the singer/songwriter". And the complilation itself was hand selected by Jackson Browne - it says that on the back of the packaging. As for the packaging - I must agree with many of you who said the CD's were damaged due to the inferior packaging - I had to send mine back for a repeated skip of "I Am A Patriot" in which the entire track was ruined. This Jackson Browne set is a very good "stater kit" for anyone being introduced to Browne's music. The only song out of all 32 that I didn't care for was the Load Out, but as stated earlier, Browne composed the compilation - and overall I'm pleasedFree Music Review: The Very Best of Jackson Browne

I love this CD! Listening to this collection reminds me of how I feel when I put on my comfy worn-in blue jeans after trying on new clothes. When I hear Jackson Browne, I remember what music from a true poet really is. This is a wonderful collection of some of his finest tunes, and it definitely satisfies my "Best of . . . " needs! With "Late for the Sky" and "Before the Deluge," two of my all time favorite songs, he couldn't go wrong.As to the packaging, I say,"BRAVO!" to Jackson for choosing to opt out of all that plastic garbage and go with an environmentally friendly choice! As soon as I unpacked the box and pulled the CD out, I couldn't help but smile as it confirmed one of the reasons (other than being an incredible musician) that I love what he does. Jackson Browne never fails to weave in threads of hope for a peaceful,humane existence, and reminds us what is truly important in life. He will always be at the top of my list!
Free Music Review: The Best Of Jackson Browne 1972 - 2004.

When it comes to singer songwriters Jackson Browne can be spoken of in the same breath as Gene Clark, James Taylor and Paul Simon.
I suggest only Bob Dylan and Neil Young are above him, partly as they started this genre in the 1960s and are still puting out new material 40 + years on.
Well this double CD is fantastic, especially disc 1.
Highlights abound, special mention for Jamacia Say You Will (also recorded by The Byrds), Take It Easy (also recorded by The Eagles),These Days and 2 tracks from the live album Running On Empty from 1977, namely The Load-Out and Stay.
Disc 2, well I only play Running On Empty with You Love The Thunder (both from the aformentioned live album), Tender Is The Night and Lawyers In Love.
All in all it's top rate and rightly called The Best Of, however if you try Running On Empty, I think you will find it essential too.

A lot of people are complaining that a couple of songs are missing from this collection. There will always be one or two people who are not satisfied that their favourite song is not on a CD. All in all this is a very complete collection by Mr. Browne. Songs are evenly distributed from his early years throughout his career. As for the packaging...I don't know what you guys are talking about because I purchased my copy in Canada as a regular jewl cased CD. Maybe it is better having it available after the States :) Canada got our copies a week after...so you guys must have got all the digi packs. But I digress...all in all very full compliation for the average fan.But if you are a hardcore fan...go out and purchase every album.
Especially the first 4 album.

And I almost didn't buy it because of the reviews stating that a few of the mixes were a little different from original album cuts. I will say to those who are concerned with this issue, that you are such hard core fans to notice (what I found to be rather minor), that I am certain that you and folks like you already have those other albums. So this album is for people like me, who really enjoyed Jackson Browne in the "good old days", but no longer have his records or tapes. So here is a pretty complete best of CD, and I am thoroughly satisfied.
If you are concerned about a few differences and want a CD like this for ease of downloading, etc. Okay, maybe this will not appeal to a purist. But if you want good ol' Jackson Browne in one package, here it is!
