It is true that jaco pastorious is one, if not the greatest bass player of all time, but i was floored by how great his all around composing is. Continuum has to be the greatest single melody i have ever had stuck in my head. Not to mention the marvelous list of supporting musicians(if you can call them that). You have Toots Thielmans, Herbie Hancock, Don Alias, And a list far to great to encompass here. If you like great music look no further. Although it is a shame i can only give it 5 stars. I wasn't sure at first, but after listening a dozen times, there's more subtle detail than I realized at first, both from Jaco himself and the collection of phenomenal musicians he got to collaborate with him. The bonus tracks are really great too - not just some "junk" they added to make it look good.
It's rare to find a CD with this much musical sense, and you can "hear" the musicians listening to one another and framing each other.
One of the best CDs I own.

Before I purchased the CD, the most influential bassists to me were supposively the greatests of all time, Geddy Lee, Chris Squire. Until I heard this CD, this is Bass like never before, lightning fast fretting. Jaco is argueably the best bass virtuoso ever. This CD also presents a wide spectrum of music genres, from Jazz to Funk, to all out bass solos, and the cast included isn't bad either. It is a classic album, if you like good Jazz or just good music, I suggest you buy it.Free Music Review: Norm will always miss Jaco

If you don't already have a copy!It's so much better these days to see Jaco's music and liturature displayed on the web(as well as his picture) as seen on Amazon.com and others.I can only hope that future generations of talented young musicians will tap into his stregth and vigor; to make valid his insidiouis and highly powerful thoughtfullness that went into the making of this album and the rest that follows.WHO LOVES YOU JACO!!!!! I finally got this Album Recently&Let Me tell you Jaco wasn't no Joke.from start to Finish He Rocked on the Bass.He would He in my All-time top ten on Bass.The Feeling&Tone are all here.kicking Group Backing Him up as well.He brings many styles,colors&vibes to the table on this album.the arrangements are on point as well.I didn't feel all His Best with Weather Report but here you can hear His Genius bursting out.
