I first got into James Brown when reading a Michael Jackson AutoBiography. James brown is a highly talented singer. My favourite all time track has to be Living in America featured in one of the Rocky Films.

This record is perfect as far as it goes. I listened to it about three or four times straight through when I first got it. Get Star Time or the 40th Anniversary box set if you want more, as you eventually will. The remastering is excellent; really, really excellent.The only problem is sparse track info: no dates, no personel, no mention of the original albums, etc. But that's minor.
And what's up with that goof from Brooklyn?

I bought this CD several years ago; while I grew up listening to James Brown, I really HEARD him while listening to this CD. I began to appreciate what he did for American music. My favorite is Try Me, something I never heard until I bought this CD. What a voice!
You can't go wrong buying this CD-you'll enjoy it for years to come!

Under what rock i've been living in? Why did it have to take James Brown death for me to discover his music? This man was THE ORIGINATOR! Everyone have been copying him for YEARS! I have heard so many so-called artists that copy his sound, music, moves....he started it all! Mr. Brown, where ever in heaven you are, I bow to you. Everyone's heard a few James Brown songs unless you've been living under a rock. I'm not much into funk but I picked this up because it looked like a fun CD to listen to and WOW, it's unbelievable. The funk and grooves are infectious and will have you sliding around the floor like James.I'd say every song on here is classic, play it straight through and then play it again.
