Free Music Notes for Live at the Apollo 1962Free Music Review: LIVE AT THE APOLLO Hit: 5 Stars
THIS IS ONE GREAT LIVE ALBUM. IN FACT, IT IS ONE OF THE FIRST LIVE ALBUMS EVER PRODUCED (BY JAMES BROWN WITH $5000 THAT HE BORROWED) THAT SOLD REALLY WELL. IT REALLY GIVES YOU A FEEL FOR THE LIVE ROAD SHOW OF JAMES BROWN AND THE FAMOUS FLAMES. IF YOU LOVE R&B, SOUL OR BLUES, YOU WILL LOVE THIS ALBUM. I DON'T KNOW ABOUT CLAIMS THAT THIS IS THE GREATEST LIVE ALBUM EVER, THERE ARE SO MANY GREAT ONES I CAN THINK OF, BUT IS ONE GREAT RECORDIING. THIS CD ALSO LINCLUDES FOUR BONUS TRACKS AS WELL.
Free Music Review: A Must Have Hit: 5 Stars
Here is another example of "live" music back in the day. This album will keep you either singing along, or dancing. Mr Brown sings a medly of his ballads. On "Lost Someone", a woman yells at him saying "Sing your A$$ off". I can remember this album when I was a young child. (age 6). I reccomend this one too. Make sure you turn the volume up on "Night Train". I love it, but that song is too short. This album actually went to #2 on the pop charts. A must have for all music lovers.
Free Music Review: The greatest showman who ever lived... Hit: 5 Stars
If you want to sample James Brown's music, start here. Then, maybe pick up his '20 Greatest Hits'. He was a man of amazing, incomparable talent. I was fortunate enough to see him in concert about six times from 1964 to 1969. You would have to see him live to appreciate it when you hear that he was the greatest showman who ever lived. To see him and hear him live is to love him. This may sound like an exaggeration, but all who have seen him live know what I am talking about.
Free Music Review: Superb Performance - Not Great Sound Quality Hit: 5 Stars
It is a given that this JB performance is a must-have, but the Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab's 1993 gold disc (http://amzn.com/B000000ISP) has much better sound quality even though it has sound on the left and right but none in the middle. This mainstream release tried to shift the left and right into the middle, but in doing so the sound became irritating and JB's voice lost depth. The bonus tracks sound bad and add nothing. Get the MFSL version if you can find it.
Free Music Review: Missing! Hit: 5 Stars
I grew up listening to this album. There's a song missing from this album. As a child we use to listen to this album, and do the james brown dance. The song missing is titled "Signed sealed and delivered" Of course I was dissappointed, but hey! you can't lose when you buy the "Godfather of soul" classic stuff. Even though it's missing a song, it's still james brown (the GodFather of soul) at his best. You can't go wrong when you buy the old classic JB recordings.
