Free Music Notes for Elements of Persuasion
Free Music Review: I bought this album because of Marco Sfogli.
Hit: 4 Stars
It's that simple. I inadvertently tripped across some of his video on the web and was amazed and subsequently pleased to find that he had teamed with James Labrie on this album.
I'm a DT fan also, and it's a welcome change to hear Labrie sing in his lower range for an extended period of time on tracks (he tends to 'walk on the ceiling' in a lot of his DT work, which is fine but isn't his strong suit, imo).
When I initially heard the track "Alone" before knowing the who and what of the song, I assumed the guitar work was done by Petrucci - but it just didn't sound quite right. That's when I found out about Marco Sfogli and began to dig on the web about the guy.
A remarkable talent in his own right. An amazing talent imo. He and Petrucci deserve to stand independently upon their own significant talents.
That said, I'll be looking for Marco's solo album to come out soon.
This entire album represents a solid effort by both Labrie and his studio players. Just wish I could see them live.
